The 2016 Dating Sites Reviews Single's Choice Award poll was closed for voting on December 31, 2016. The poll opened mid October (a little later than planned) and in the 2 and a half months that voting took place it received a total of 407 votes which is a little less than last year (probably due to being open 2 weeks less). This award is the result of the second question from the poll which asks our visitors what is in their opinion is the best free dating service (includes websites and dating apps). The top 8 free dating services where picked by the Editor's to be the options for the visitor to select from. These dating services were selected by meeting a number of criteria. This includes having a review on Dating Sites Reviews, having the core features of the service being free (including, profiles, searching, and messages), and being a service with a large amount of traffic.

The recipient of the 2016 Single's Choice Award for a Free Dating Site is Plenty Of Fish. This is the eighth straight year in a row that Plenty of Fish has won this award. In 2016 POF received 126 votes which is a percent more than last year, and 30 percent of the total votes cast.

Here are the final results of the poll:

2016 Dating Sites Reviews Choice Awards - Over All
Recipient
Match.com

The Editor's Top Pick - Over All Award recipient for 2016 is Match.com. This award is a difficult one to determine as the race is very close amongst the popular dating services. After careful review we determined that Match would be the recipient of the Overall award this year thanks to their continued popularity and customer service.

In a recent study it was found that 38% of Match members had a relationship (which started on Match.com) that had lasted longer than one month. This was the highest of all the dating services which were in the study. Thanks to statistics like this and Match's continued ability to offer easy and accessible tools for members to find their potential partner, it raised the bar and put this dating service top on our list for 2016.

2016 Dating Sites Reviews Choice Awards - Innovative
Recipient
eHarmony

The Editor's Top Pick - Innovative Award winner of 2016 is eHarmony. Late in 2016, eHarmony made a number of bold moves by launching several big new features for their website and dating apps which continue to roll out early in 2017 for some locations. One of the more exciting ones is that eHarmony now shows you your compatibility score with your matches. You can see your top 3 attributes for matching which predicts a long and successful relationship plus, members will also be able to drill down further to see how they match in other dimensions of compatibility (for all 29).

eHarmony also reduced the initial profile questionnaire so that it will take most users only 10 minutes to sign up for a free membership, fill in the profile, and start receiving matches. Previously completing the profile took on average 40 minutes. Members will still be able to fill in the expanded eHarmony profile at a later time to ensure that they will receive the same high quality matches as before.

 Tinder Podcast DTR

The last place many love weary daters would go for advice on how to date is consulting a dating app. Especially Tinder, which has often been accused of being a “hook-up” app, and recently taken to task by competitor Hinge for that reputation.

But last month, Tinder launched a brand new podcast offering online daters some much-needed advice.

Branded podcasts are popping up everywhere, since the platform has really caught on with the way the public consumes information. According to Edison Research, about 21% of Americans over the age of 12, or 57 million people, listen to a podcast monthly, up from 17% last year. It seems Tinder is trying to capitalize on its success and pave a more helpful and hopeful path while expanding its user base.
