Dating app Hinge has launched its new top tier service HingeX for $49.99 per month. The company also announced changes to its current subscription tiers to provide more offerings at new price points.

Hinge had been testing its new premium service at different price points around $60, parent company Match Group revealed on an earnings call in January, as well as revising the current subscription model. Executives and investors have seen huge growth potential in the dating app and are focusing efforts right now on Hinge and star app Tinder.

Match Group had said that it was testing the new subscription model, but few details about features were given. Now we know that subscribers who pay for HingeX will have their profiles constantly boosted to attract more matches, according to Fast Company who broke the news, and will be seen sooner than other profiles by potential matches.

In addition, when a HingeX user “likes” a profile, their profile will be shown to that person right away (called "front of line" matching). Premium subscribers will also get “enhanced recommendations” according to Fast Company for better matching according to preferences, based on its algorithm and AI, and all of the benefits of the previous top tier Hinge Preferred, now dubbed Hinge+.

There are new features coming for lower subscription tiers, too. Hinge+ is now $29.99 per month, down from $34.99. For this price point, users will get access to advanced match filters (like political preferences and smoking habits) as well as the ability to send unlimited likes, according to Fast Company.

Hinge is also making it easier for its users to see who is most responsive and interested in going out, so there won’t be so many text messages that go nowhere. For example, Hinge will look at people who are located close by, or are new to Hinge, or have been active that same day, as these are typically more highly motivated daters. It’s also allowing matches to now sort liked profiles according to most recent matches, those who are nearby, and who was most recently active.

Match Group also said on the earlier call with investors that it expects Hinge to grow its revenue by more than 25 percent year-over-year for the first quarter of 2023 with the new pricing tiers.

The pricing for HingeX was notably dropped from $60 down to $50 after testing the new tier. The new subscriptions are currently available for all Hinge users, including the free service.
