Date.com Redirects to Matchmaker.com

Even though we waiting more than a few weeks before posting the original story about Date.com and Matchmaker.com disappearing along with the website for their parent company Avalanche, it looks things migh be turning around for the company, at least partly anyways.

Matchmaker.com, Amor.com, GayDating.com, and Gk2Gk.com are all accessible again (confirmed last week from one of our visitors who commented on the original story). Date.com though now redirects to Matchmaker. A message on Date.com explains that it has become part of Matchmaker and all existing members have been moved over, including all of their profile information and messages. I was a little surprised of this since I thought the Date.com brand was stronger than the Matchmaker brand (though the Matchmaker brand is older).

Avalanche's corporate website (avalanchellc.com) is still down and all of their affiliate programs (at CJ, Flexoffers, etc.) have had their campaign paused. I am not sure what is going on at Avalanche where their websites disappeared for around 2 months. Maybe they had financial issues or the websites have been sold? I am not sure but when we know more, we will let you know.

We currently have all Avalanche dating sites listed as closed. Once we get a bit more information and see if things have stabilized we will update the reviews.

Moving on from Past Dating Mistakes

One of the biggest hurdles we have to overcome in order to find lasting love is our own dating history. Many of us have experienced heartbreak, which is a kind of trauma, and sometimes, you can get stuck in your feelings and apprehension without even realizing it.

The key to finding a healthy, lasting relationship and not repeating the same old mistakes in dating is to understand your past, and then to make a decision to move on from it. Easier said than done, because most of us have habits and patterns that are tough to break.

Following are some ways to help yourself move on into healthier dating patterns:

Dating apps found their foothold with younger users. Tinder launched on college campuses in 2012, and 90% percent of its earliest users were aged between 18 and 24. It wasn’t chance; it was strategy.

“They thought if this product is successful among that young college demographic, who also happens to be the most social group of people on the planet [and] the least likely to need an app to meet people, it can [work] for anyone,” Tinder spokesperson Rosette Pambaki told Complex.

Tinder’s wager was right, and in the years that followed, it and other apps like it became explosively popular amongst younger users. But times change, and if a company is to survive, it must change with them. The Wall Street Journal reports that dating apps are now welcoming singles in their late 30s and beyond for one simple, but essential, reason: their money.

Women Enjoy Being Single More Than Men, Says New Study

It’s 2016 and we should be over stereotypes about single women, yet they persist like acne on a teenage face. When not getting shoutouts from Beyonce, many single ladies still feel pressure to settle down “before it’s too late.”

Single men, on the other hand, are celebrated. We idolize the charmingly rakish Barney Stinsons of the world, propping their lifestyles up as something to aspire to. There’s just one problem: those men may be more unhappy in their singlehood than their solo-flying female counterparts.

According to a new study from Avvo, an online legal service company, more women feel positive about being single than men. A sample of over 2000 U.S. adults aged 18 and over participated in Avvo’s 2016 Relationship, Marriage, and Divorce Survey. Three out of four female participants said they’d rather be “alone, successful, and happy” than be in a disappointing relationship. Only 58% of male participants said they felt the same way.

New Gender Identities at Tinder

Since Tinder launched in 2012, new users have been given two options to describe themselves: male or female. For much of the population, the decision was easy. But for a significant portion, those two words posed a problem.

Transgender and gender non-conforming Tinder users had no way to accurately identify, and many experienced harassment as a result. When news of their troubling experiences reached company CEO Sean Rad, he decided the app was in need of an update.

New Tinder users are now presented with three options: 'male,' 'female,' and 'more.' Selecting 'more' reveals dozens of new terms members can use to describe their identity. The company partnered with media advocacy organization GLAAD to develop a list of nearly 40 auto-fill suggestions. Users can also type in their own perferred terms.
