Remember when people wondered if Tinder would ever successfully monetize? Those days seem like a lifetime ago.

The company has released a string of money-making features since its 2012 launch, ranging from Super Like to the premium Tinder Plus membership. The latest to join the line-up is Tinder Gold - an optional, upgradeable tier that allows users to see who swiped right on their profile without swiping right back.

Tinder Gold was released in the United States in late August following testing in select markets around the world. The members-only service offers the app’s most popular exclusive features, including Passport, Rewind, Unlimited Likes, five Super Likes per day, one Boost per month, and more profile controls. It also includes the new Likes You feature, which reveals who’s into you before you swipe.

“Some users have a lot of time to spend swiping and connecting with new people, but we’ve found that others want to maximize the time they’re able to spend on the app, and Likes You gives those users a way to swipe, match, and start chatting seamlessly,” said Tinder Chief Product Officer Brian Norgard. “Tinder Gold provides subscribers with the fun and engaging swiping experience they love about Tinder, coupled with the efficiency and control of being able to see who’s swiped right on them first.”

Tinder suggests users think of it as “your personal Swipe Right concierge—available 24/7—bringing all of your pending matches to you.” Or, put more simply, it’s a no-risk way to date if you have insecurity issues and little-to-no time on your hands. Which may or may not be a good thing.

Tinder Gold pricing is still being tested but currently sits at $4.99 a month, on top of the $9.99 per month for Tinder Plus. Only Tinder Plus members are eligible to purchase Tinder Gold. Are people willing to pay almost $15 monthly for the privilege of taking a peek at their admirers?

The answer appears to be yes. Just one day after Tinder Gold’s US launch, the app rose to the number one place on the App Store’s top-grossing chart. The is the first time Tinder has occupied the top spot. Match.com stock also hit a record high as the new subscription service rolled out, jumping 7.3% to close at 21.21 on August 30.

Tinder has - excuse the obvious pun - struck gold with its latest feature. Curious iOS users can test out Tinder Gold immediately along with Android users as well.
