I signed up for 3 months on Chemistry with so much hope of at least meeting a guy I'm compatible with. I am a bi-racial femaie (black & hispanic); a picture of me shows I'm predominantly black. I classified myself as african american and other. I have come to the realization that Chemistry is not for "black" folks. I can't put all the blame on Chemistry for this. However, most of the men that were sent to me as matches had their ethnicity preference for anyone but african american. I feel that if in their profiles they have clearly stated their preferences then why on earth are they being sent to me as matches when clearly I am not their cup of tea? I find this quite offensive. I have my preferences set to "no preference" on ethnicity as I am open to dating men from other ethnic groups. I expressed interet in a few guys but only received response from one. We went through guided communication one night and got as far as answering each other's questions. However, when I sent my answers, he held my answers hostage for the next 7 days, without reviewing my answers, which made us not be be able to get to the next stage, email stage. We wouldn't be able to move to the next stage until he reviews my responses to his questions. I ended up closing that match. How disrespectful! I did get to email stage with a guy who had initially indicated an interest in me. However, by the time we got to email stage he was being aggressive and wanted us to email outside of chemistry, and lots of tasteless sexual flirting. I'm no prude but I was turned off. I ended up closing him out. I have also come to the realization that Chemistry does not match simultaneously. Recieving someone as a match does not necessarily mean that they have received you as a match. For my subscription, I feel that Chemistry uses you as a shill to try to get other members to become subscribers. You must have a strong sense of self to deal with apparent rejection on a daily basis. You can go weeks without anyone showing any interest. Chemistry keeps sending me messages such as, "someone has noticed you". The hope of Chemistry is that you will review that person's profile and indicate an "interested in you" , which in turn will cause this poor guy to maybe join. If he has noticed me, then why didn't he send me an interest message? Simple answer is that he is not a paying subscriber! Short of one month since I became a subscriber, I resigned my membership. I consider the $100 that I spent a learning lesson on what to never do again. I'm getting out of my limited work setting and going out where I have a chance of meeting new people.

So glad to read this. After my husband left me, the lack of response from anyone online was the cherry on the sundae! I just wanted to say that *this time* I don't think it's racism. There aren't any actual people on the site.
