So I'm reading this thread... and all I see is a bunch of cryer's! And to the guy that had 3 responces in 6 months. Dude, you are obviously not doing something correctly. I get a response 40-50% of the time. That's not bad considering that girls DO get 100 emails a day. But you have to learn to stand out!! Mark even TEACHES and gives some tips on the website!

Listen, I'm no Don Juan. I'm an average guy working as a salesman in the computer field. How much boring can you get than that!! I'm Not a doctor, not a Lawyer, not a business owner. Just an average Joe. And a single father at that!!! Some girls won't go out with guys that have a kid. But they go out with ME! I have a date 2-3 times a week because of POF. And the girls are very attractive. Because I won't settle for anything less than thin, athletic women!! (something that I learned along the way)

LOL.. some of you people keep saying that PoF is full of "bottom of the barrel" types, both men and women. Really, what do you expect to find on a dating site? The one thing that you all have in common is that you have a hard time getting dates in real life (for whatever reason). Socially, that puts you squarely in the bottom of the barrel. So really, when you're on PoF, you are just meeting your peers. Your peers on PoF probably don't consider themselves to be "the bottom of the barrel" and maybe when they see your profile they view YOU as lowest common denominator.

POF is so big because a fair percentage of the profiles are "dead", haven't been logged into for months or years.

Those dead profiles inflate the number of "members".

I guess it depends on what you are fishing for - if you go to PoF, I just joined a couple of days ago along with Date Hookup and AF. Thought about paying AF because my friend gets laid there all the time but he is younger, black, and plays to that fantasy with couples - not my style.

Plus I'm old, like 60 and no hot 25-year-old will be for me, only after money. So I have been looking in the still unrealistic 40-year old range, I have always dated 10 or 12 years younger - but I was with someone for 15 years and now I'm single again. A 12-year younger woman, sadly, does look a lot older then they used too. lol

Anyway I looked up fisher929 and he does have a funny interesting profile and his picture is hidden. I have a picture and a crappy quickie profile. But I looked through the profiles of girls and used the 'meet me' feature and clicked on some of the better looking 40 something's and have had about 50 views on my profile in two days and 6 woman said they would like to meet me. I just replied to them today and one replied back and we did a few emails.

Then I saw someone - who 15 years ago would have been far too cute to date me - and I sent a funny comment on her hair style, since it made her look like a tomboy, and she emailed me right back.

We have emailed 5 times and she asked me to keep in contact with her.

So no 25 hot model girls after me - like on the free side of AF- but damn for 43 this woman looks great in all 8 of her pictures. Says she lives in my area and if I can keep up the funny banter we have so far - I'm pretty sure I have a shot at a date with a 17-year younger woman.

At DH I have had 4 emails - 2 from girls out of my area and 2 nearby if they aren’t lying. One is a very cute 32-year-old allegedly near me, but I know it is unlikely she has any real even interest even though she has contacted me 4 times.

If she wanted she could get someone way younger and I'm not that good looking, plus there are other warning signs, like wanting to chat through yahoo.

And like the other people have said - winks and added to the hot list - on AF is just scamming. I'll never see the naked body of those girls for real. I'll see about DH but I do wonder about it.

But as fisher929 knows, the truth is - a well-done profile is necessary bait - and you have to jiggle the line right and set the hook. Can an old man without any practice for 15 years pull it off? I don't know - my game is all rust and not that good when I was younger. I guess I'll see. But used right I think the internet can be an advantage. You have a chance to talk and banter before you meet and that can be good, plus you can put up your best photos. (True they can too) still…

There's an old saying - "If you have someone by the genitals their hearts and minds will soon follow. " I think on the Internet you have a chance to get a woman - …by the heart and mind and soon their genitals will follow.

Don't forget, POF started at the right time when there was no such thing of free dating sites. Now, many people are creating free sites hoping that they would also generate revenue from corporate worlds. . However, there probably too late for the piece of the pie. Everyone knows about POF so many will not even consider leaving the site.

early adopter ! now all lowlifes are jumping on the scamming bandwagon as its easy money but the market is mighty crowded so they have to resort to fake profiles and shills to get them off the ground
