I know there are a lot of bashing of dating sites, but they’re around for a reason. They work. You know friends who’ve met on them. Some, like myself, have even gotten married to their spouse because of POF.

Honestly, I think it comes down to three things: your profile; your photos & your attitude.
Your profile needs to describe you. What you enjoy. Your photos need to be from the last year (and ladies, if you don’t want d!c pix, don’t make yourself look like a prostitute). Lastly, your attitude. Yep, some will be time wasters. Some will be no shows. But unless you live under a rock, this is what happens in real life at work too, right? We pick up and move on.

If this were only true. It comes down to numbers. As a moderator of another match site I knew a number of things most dont or the sites wont admit. 70% of them are fake or inactive. Match (which owns PoF, OkCupid, Tinder and more). In fact OKCupid had been hacked a couple years back and the ratio of men to women was 17 to 1. In reality it was even worse as most profiles are inactive or fake. I proved this by creating an account and shutting it down, even stating it was shut down right in the profile. Even now I still get hits sent to my email on that account. Also, I would delete on average 300 fake accounts on a Sunday night for the age groups around 40 years old. So until there is some oversight on these sites Im sorry to say that its a numbers game. Your hearts in the right place Corinne, but the reality is they rarely work for a small percentage of most folks over 40.
