I tried their 6 month guarantee. The button was there after 6 months to renew for another six months for free. I pressed it and it said "We have been unable to renew your subscription. Please contact customer service for more information." I had fufilled all their criteria under their "Make Love Happen" Guarantee. Their site even said so, that was why the renew free button had appeared. Yet the button didn't work.

I contacted Customer services about this. They didn't write back. I contacted them again. They ignored my email again. So, frankly, even their "guarantee" is a complete con because what's the point if at the end of your 6 months they just don't fulfill it and never answer your emails?

Well, I'm not that bothered. It was a six month experiment. Their "guarantee" did indeed persuade me to try it. There are certainly some genuine people on match.com. Me for instance. But match itself is little better than a guy trying to sell you a cheap watch in a bar, and at the end of the six months they showed me that quite plainly. If people find love on it, they do so in spite of the enormous edifice that is match.com. It is a pity they should turn out to be such hucksters on their "guarantee" though, as there is just no need for it. They could easily just honour their claim, but instead they choose to be bastards about it. Okay, so now I know. Buyer beware: sign up for six months only because of the discount, not because of their guarantee, as it's not worth the pixels it's written on.

I also experienced the error message when trying to claim my 6 month subscription extension under the match.com guarantee.

However, I *phoned* their customer service department (national/premium rate number, connecting to a dreaded offshore call centre) to get it sorted. The lady I spoke to informed me that they were 'currently' experiencing technical problems with extending subscriptions under the guarantee using the website, but that she would activate the extension for me. After a minute of waiting on hold, it was done. And it all seems sorted now.

Of course, a part of me suspects that these "technical problems" might be a persistent ruse to discourage people from claiming under their guarantee, or to get people to call the costly customer services number. But still, I imagine that match.com are legally obliged to meet the terms of their guarantee, so if you give them a call, they pretty much have to honour it.

I had a similar problem with match.com Guarantee I fullfilled the requirements and at the end a button letting me renew didn't appear. Instead 1984 stlyle it showed that apparently I had not not contacted enough people in the first month despite it showing before my subscription ending that I had fufilled this requirement as it was in blue.

It angers me that cowboys such as this are still allowed to trade!

Anyway I agree with the post don't use this site it's a massive rip off.

I bet facebook is probably a better and it's free to contact people

hmmm, I didn't have any problems with the guarantee. I emailed at least 10 people each month (with at least 2 or 3 not responding) and I recieved the guarantee. If I remember correctly on what it says on match you have to communitate with at least 5 people. This at least shows that you are trying to use the service and not waiting for love to come to you.

I am experiencing the same prob, why say you have qualified and to click the button only for it to say unable to honour the guarantee?? Have just emailed customer services waiting for a reply. Any advice helpful, doesnt seem to be many others complaining, just you and me had bad luck??
