The "review" of Plenty Of Fish was obviously written either by the owner(s) or someone working for them. Nothing in the "review" is truthful.

I've been a member of POF for several years, and in that time I've never been able to contact anyone, and I've never been contacted. The result of my searches always comes up as Not Enough Matches, with a prompt to Please Widen Your Search. The max is 200 km, and that produces exactly the same result.

From time to time POF does things to try to keep me interested. Their latest scam was to try to tell me that a woman and I were a perfect mutual match. This was very strange, considering that she'd never looked at my profile, or vice versa. It wasn't merely an unethical act on their part: it was an outright lie. The woman in question was pretty cheesed off when I contacted her, and the experience was embarrassing and annoying for both of us.

Contrary to the claim made in the "review", you are NOT "guaranteed to meet a variety of singles on the site". This is an outright lie. The odds are very good that the site will take your money, and that you will never meet ANYONE though their site.

Other commenters have noted the number of prostitutes using the site for trawling for customers, and I have noticed this as well. A good many of the profiles are fake, too, which you can easily find out for yourself by using the TinEye reverse search app.

As far as the profiles go, the rule of thumb is that if the photograph looks professional, the person at the other end is probably a sweaty, balding, tattoo-covered Russian mobster named Ivan, working in a cubicle at an on-line telemarketing office.
