I first joined this site about 5 years ago a little while after I divorced. I met and dated a few men, but they were never who they portrayed themselves to be online. I am speaking from a woman's perspective, but I do understand that there are many women out there who play games also. However, I am not one of them. Overall, I have been very disappointed with the site. I went off the site for a number of years because I had a relationship with someone who I met not online, but in person. That did not work out. I recently rejoined and cannot understand how men 45 and older can be so immature. I am not only amazed, but floored by the insecurity and immaturity of grown men! I have received hundreds of flirts from men who are afraid to open their mouths and say a simple hello, how are you or I'd like to get to know you. I have received phone numbers and messages that say call me, when I do not even know your name or if I want to call you or not. Better yet, I receive messages that say text me your number when we never had a conversation. These are things that my teenagers did in high school! I have received messages from men who tell me what they want to do to me and think their sexual organ is their worth. I have received messages from straight up cowards who will send a message and then block so I cannot respond appropriately. Men save me as a favorite all the time, but never speak, or they will literally send 10 like your photos, or I'm interested in you flirts back to back. I have complimented profiles and received not even a thank you because the man thinks that I am somehow interested in him. Do black men have that type of mentality that they cannot speak to a sister without thinking that she wants something from him? I read profiles and when I see something that I find interesting I may comment and say "nice profile," which is what it means - "nice profile" - nothing else. I do not recommend the site - it is like a huge feeding ground. I am an intelligent, attractive, articulate woman, who is not stuck on herself, but everyday working to be the best that I can be. The only thing I want is a partner who is doing the same to share my life with. I understand now that I will not find him on Black People Meet. I think we all are selective about what we desire and we all have preferences, but it does not give any of us the right to be disrespectful and degrading towards other people. I have learned that I have the power to create my life and what I desire in my life, and it's not necessary to pay a monthly fee to do that.

Girl I can so relate. The quality of men on the site is horrible. Most of the guys I have met on the site look like they are fresh out of prison. Some have several kids and don't appear to be doing anything worthwhile with themselves. I even received a few threatening messages and messages of a sexual nature. This has caused me to cancel my account. I hear alot of good stories about online dating but I don't think this site is for me. There are too many creeps out there or men that have alot of baggage and issues. Particularly on this website. Match.com might be a little better from what Im told from some friends who have used the site. But as for blackpeoplemeet.com I wouldn't recommend this site to my worst enemy. lol

I agree with you. This site is the worst, and I’m speaking from a man’s point of view.

There are two main reasons I feel that way.

First, I don’t think many people on this site actually pay much attention to the profiles. It seems like most people are primarily looking at pictures. From my experience, a lot of the women I encountered were either significantly overweight or, quite frankly, not putting much effort into their appearance.

I don’t consider myself the most handsome man in the world, but I’m certainly not ugly. I’d probably rate myself a 7, maybe an 8 on a good day. I was getting a reasonable number of profile views and even a few likes. But when I actually reached out to some of those women, I was often ghosted. That left me wondering: what was the point of clicking “LIKE” if you had no intention of responding?

The second reason is what happened after I deleted my profile and left only my pictures up. Almost immediately, the views and likes stopped. That made me question how much of the activity on the site is actually organic versus being driven by the site's algorithms.

And, by the way, BlackPeopleMeet and Match are owned by the same company. So, unsurprisingly, there is a lot of overlap between the people you see on both sites.

Overall, my experience has been pretty disappointing.

I completely agree with you. I couldn't have said it better myself my sister. The men on here are about games. They lie on the site pretending they want a serious relationship. In reality, they just want a booty call!

hi standard, how r u doing
i registered in this site less than a week ago. i made the mistake of not looking for reviews before. is better late than ever. and here i am a bit disappointed and at the same time try to find a solution. i got some flirts that never respond. i send flirts and likes that never get anything. to be true the answer i got was from someone who lives in other province and somebody else also in ontario. but i can say the show any interest. i always was consider a handsome man. i can understand that i m not brad pit but at least i have a passable good look. normal. but no one say hi or something. i just canceled yesterday and trying to see another sites reviews. seems hard. i just wonder if we can t post as an independent individuals our profiles somewhere online with out any company behind. im in my 50 looking for a younger woman, seems impossible. i like black woman and they always like me. seems that is part of the past :-(
