I was grateful for the experience and think POF is a pretty good free sight. Im an educated, moderately attractive middle aged women. Yes, Im struggling a little financially, but not more than many in these tough economic times. Im willing to give a lot of effort into a relationship that I want. I have my own place, my kids are grown etc. I have a car and would have no problem driving an hour or more for someone I love.

Plenty of Fish is a FREE sight. For that reason, I dont see how any greedy predjudice people can complain.

I went on four dates. Both people I thought had the potential of being compatable with. One person I had some similar interests as him, and the other person I felt a lot of chemistry with. I started to develop some feelings for the second person. I had a few extra pounds on me, not many, but it may have been an issue. Ironically, I started exercising a month later and have already lost over ten pounds, Im close to average weight now. I dont like to set up my profile to portray me exactly, because people do get stalky and harrassing, and I hoped someone would search through my profile to meet the real me. I am a catch, its just, people have to see others beyond the superficial crap, and the world is so based on superficial crap, image, money, looks etc.

Im afraid their is a stigma on these sights for women. Men are at an advatage because dating many for men is a macho thing, the more the merrier,and for women in a sexist society, it just makes a women look trashy, and it may not be her fault. She may enter every date thinking its a relationship and every man may lead her on until he gets what he wants then dump her. These players are just the trash in society.

It would be easy for women or men to be mislead and end up with VD, or for a woman, pregnant, if they encounter the wrong undesireable people.

Men may put that they are looking for a long term relationship, but they are just looking for sex. This is so horrible. I am sorry, I used to wonder if men could be faithful, but Ive never seen a region where men were so dishonest and treated women so poorly. Back home, a date usually started with flowers, and interesting activity, and so forth. If a man asked you on a second date, it always meant that he was interested in pursuing some sort of relationship. Now sick puppies want to have sex but not call up and make sure their mate arrived home ok? I think by the second date, before there is sexual involvement, one should know if they are going to be able to form a relationship. The sign of a good person is that they do not get involved in a sexual activity unless they want to form a relationship with that person. People make mistakes, but if it happens often, the person is a just a loser.

Im sure some of the women have false photos, and expect the men to solve all of her problems by the second date too. Guys must get burned out on wasting their energies in false hopes.

It is difficult to meet people and form meaningful relationships. I am a little shy with strangers, and am starting to get a little lonely at times. Overall Im pretty happy. I think POF would be a good sight if people would be good human beings, and do what they know is right. Only idiots base their lives on stereotypes, looks, images, sexual impulse, whatever. We are all sexual beings and develop some sort of human base to act correctly when dating. This isnt POFs fault if people dont have social skills. I think there should be people that monitor the conversations or number of dates and cut the people off the sight if they are players.

I think it would be possible to meet a significant other on one of these sights if the quality of the people, determined by their behavior, was good. People just have to objectively sort through all of the superficial stuff to get to the real thing.

I agree with this post. POF is one of the dating sites (not "sight") I have my profile, and compared to OKCupid, the guys at POF respond more than OKC. I met one guy from POF and one from OKC. The one from POF was a fake, he only wanted sex. The one from OKC wanted a relationship, but wasn't my type. Considering that I'm in late 40s, I have average to thin look, and I just started searching on these sites about one month ago, I'm doing fine. I believe these sites work, just as long you know how to work the sites, you are specific in your profile, and search the right people for you (this means, be realistic).

But, the most important to remember here is that both (and any date site for that matter) will have losers and serious people. I search singles at 3 different sites, and I specify what I want. I find it that it helps to have a little exchange before going out on a date so you can gauge the personality and the intentions.

At POF, I found that guys are more in search of sex than searching for a serious relationship. I found the OKC to have a lot of pretentious guys. And, surprisingly, I found the same guys at both POF and OKC. So, some overlap occurs, and we cannot make any generalizations here. I think it is the free dating potential that appeals more than the site itself. Let's face it, to pay for a bad dating experience is no fun.

Finding a romantic partner, love, and dating online is an odd thing, but unfortunately it is the sign of times, and, as a friend who found her husband online said "it is the only way to go if you want to date someone."
