I tried POF because I am new to the area and don't know anyone yet. Before moving I broke up with my boyfriend of a year and was ready to get back into the dating scene. I wrote a cute and catchy profile, added like 10 recent pictures, and was very specific about who I was looking for. A good looking guy who was very active that loves long walks, swimming, dancing, bike riding, and such... was a fan of the theater, wouldn't be afraid to get on a karaoke stage and belt out a tune, had no kids, prefered never married, financially and emotionally stable... and was between 31 to 38 years old.

What did I get? guys who were morbidly obese with more hair on their backs than on their heads, 3 kids from 3 different baby mommas, 40+ years old, jobless, with one photo of either his dog, or a photo of himself that looks like it was his mugshot...looking for one night stands... or long term relationships with rich super models.

Problem with this site is it's free. Sure it's a gamble to sign onto a datings site where you have to pay $50 a month... but the problem with a free site... they are not descriminating. Anyone (and I mean anyone) can join. The majority of them are just goofing around, looking to scam someone, or looking for one night stands.

when it comes to paid sites, scammers and slackers are less likely to waste money. Does it mean paid sites are loser free? no... but you have more of a chance with them to find someone serious about getting into a relationship.
