Most women on POF seem to come with some sort of "gotcha" clause. Either they have children, messed up financials, history of bad relationships. etc. There always seems to be some reason why they are using a dating site which takes them out of the long term desirability range. Not saying they're bad people, stuff happens to everyone, they're just not typically in a place where long term is something guys will pursue them for.

The few women that have their life going well, expect quite a lot in return. Clearly these women have the "if you're an awesome guy, I may consider it" syndrome. That normally means most awesome guys will just pass them by as it's generally not a good deal.

So, it seems like women on the site, have a very expected reason for being there, that is; they can't get what they want in normal life, because they don't offer what they want.

I'm not a bitter guy that couldn't meet women from there. I've met quite a few actually. My experience on the site is quite typical for every guy I know that used the site.

My stats: 2 degrees, consistent 200K+ income, fit, 5'10", good looking "enough" (always with at least good looking women, though looks aren't that important) ** my profile only had enough information to guess a 100-150K income **

I was using the site as there are desirable women there, on paper at least, and some that are certainly keepers, but hard to reach. I was stuck on a project that burned up too much time, so I tried POF. I suspect that even though I'm a muscular guy, I would need to have at least 2 more inches in height to be successful there. YES, womens expectations there are that high, I couldn't believe it. They're willing to pass on me and hold out for a similar guy ... but a few inches taller. There are better guys than me that are also taller a well, of course, but you're talking about 2-4 inches; surely it can't be mean THAT much. You're into 25-50K per inch range... that's a pretty high valuation. Oddly, I rarely date/relationship with women less than 5'6" ... that's not intentional, they're just the women they are interested.

Anyway, that projects over, back to normal life, so no longer need POF, pretty sure I'll meet a keeper in real life quick enough. Just a little frustrated to be on that site for 6 months and come away empty handed. Though I did make some business contacts, that will result in more consulting work. Hardly necessary for me to use POF for that purpose, but moneys money.
