POF is a horrible ineffective dating site. It's that way by design. The goal is too minimize effectiveness and usability as much as possible while still retaining a user base BUT maximizing ad revenue. In POF's case most of that is achieved by refusing to provide any significant user base segmentation and cross match capability that is commonplace on paid dating sites.

Most of the complains and problems people have with the site is a result of the above. It's by design. The side bonus is an increase in frustration levels which oddly enough, at the right level, will increase a persons desire to continue using the site.

It's hilarious that people fall for this is such high numbers. It's textbook trivial math and psychology.

Stating the site is free is also hilarious, as most people will easily burn up more than enough time using the site, than what it costs to use a paid dating site which is designed to minimize wasted time. Unless of course your time is not worth anything. Effectively people are working for POF at the rate of about 50 cents an hour, that's what your time is worth to POF.

Guys like myself will not use the site. I am well educated, fit, actually single (for now), with a significant income. I won't use the site because I know, the only guys that will use the site are likely just looking for sex and/or full of BS. I know this because sex is the only motivator sufficient to get past the site ineffectiveness. If my life ever got so pathetic that I have to line up to meet women that are spending their time dating these guys, the first place I'm going is the doctor, as I clearly lost my mind. I won't even date women I meet in real life that are using dating sites, and YES I can figure it out.

What this means for women that use these sites is obvious. You will likely only ever be meeting/dating guys that are looking for sex and/or full of BS OR deleting email from guys who didn't really have a chance. You will most certainly be wasting your time as guys like me will not be on these sites. While women are on these sites she's missing all the decent guys as women that are not on these sites get those guys. What's worse is, guys like me, won't go near you until you been off these sites for at least 6 months. Believe me, no guys I know, which is quite a few, has any long term interest in women using this sites.

you sure know a lot about that site for someone who's never used it.

I have used it, it's pretty crappy. Nothing but overweight single mom's lookin' for a daddy.

From the profiles I've seen the women here, good looking ones, are all the ones looking for dating and NOTHING SERIOUS. For myself, and few good guys I know my age who gets curious to come here as most of the girls we know offline tend to maybe have the spontaneity and communication skills, tends to be not very mature on the inside.

Not going to bother posting a public pic. If any women bother spending time looking at their matches profiles, the good girls can take 1 min and ask for a pic if they have the perception and maturity to recognize a profile of a good guy who don't flash looks, money or muscle in their pics or profiles to attract just the women who only goes for those things...the things that does not last though time.

I doubt it's necessary for people (or men) to spend more than a few hours looking at the site to come to the same conclusion as the person(guy) above did. It's fairly standard deception practices for sites like POF. They are just using the carrot and stick or mouse and cheese strategy. Only guys primarily looking for sex would bother with that nonsense. Having anything remotely referred to as a dating site, set up this way, essentially guarantees it will be little more than a hook up site. POF is certainly little more than a hook up site. Men will not use a hook up site for relationships ... regardless of the quality of women that may or may not be on the site. Very few men are that desperate or have such low self respect.
