What is Fraudnet Technology you ask, it is a patent-pending solution to provide a safer online dating environment for Perfectmatch.com members. It has several goals, from increase detection of fraudulent credit cards to identify suspicious online behavior. These behaviors include such dating scams as people pretending to foster a relationship to lure singles into sending them money, providing credit card information and/or other personal data. Perfectmatch.com is always looking to protect it's members from dating online scams that have run rampent on other dating services.

This is definitely a step in the right direction for dating sites in general. While I haven't heard of any complaints against Perfectmatch.com regarding scam artists you can never be too careful online. Fraudnet and Perfectmatch.com have just inked this deal so it's not in use yet but we expect it to go live within 6 months.

According to an independent study, on average 90 eHarmony members get married everyday. The number sounds good and not many other dating services mention this type of statistic. You would tend to believe then, singles interested in marriage should sign up for eHarmony. Of course it's what they don't say that makes you wonder.

Are these eHarmony members marrying each other? If so, you could then cut the number in have and say, 45 couples got married. This of course doesn't have the same punch as 90 members getting married.

The other thing worth mentioning is they don't say if the single members are getting married because of meeting on eHarmony. The member getting married could of join eHarmony but met the person they are marrying from a different source and hasn't been using eHarmony for a long while.

Of course this is all speculation on my part, but it is interesting how statistics can be skewed to make anything look go. From other research I have done, there is no doubt in my mind that eHarmony is an excellent choice for singles looking for marriage. For more information on eHarmony read our review here.

The New York Times has an interesting article on True.com, their large growth in members, the huge amounts of advertising money they have spent and, on some of their controversial practices. Last month True.com attracted a staggering 3.8 million singles. This is in part due to the estimated $2.2 million dollars spent over the last year in online advertising, far exceeding the other major online dating services advertising budgets. This is where the controversy starts since most of their ads are much more sexual oriented than their site would suggest. Especially since True.com preaches a more virtuous and safer site by not allowing married people and criminals access (they do this by performing background checks). The other part of the controversy is aimed at the way some winks are automatically sent by True.com for it's members. This also has been discussed in our forums to some length.

Wow, I'm not sure how I missed this (and when it exactly happened) but Lavalife has switched from a credit base membership system to a subscription based membership. So instead of buying credits to send an email or instant message, etc. you now have unlimited use of these features for a low monthly price. Lavalife was the only large dating service I know of that had used the credit type system.

I'll update the Lavalife Review soon to include this new information.

Have you ever wondered if those photo's from someone's dating profile have been retouched or enhanced? I know many singles have. Adobe and Hany Farid (an expert in photo fraud detection) may be coming to your rescue. In their next version of Photoshop, Adobe may add the ability to detect if a photo is authentic or not. Using software tools that Hany Farid have created for law enforcement to detect photo fraud, Adobe has created and is currently testing several plugins for PhotoShop to do the same thing.
