Grammy-winning Christian singer Lauren Daigle has partnered with Bumble BFF to help promote its “Asking for a Friend” campaign.

The star joins other celebrities such as Jameela Jamil and celebrity gamer Kristen Valnicek, who have joined forces with Bumble to encourage its users to build friendships and support networks to counter the growing problem of loneliness and isolation around the world, especially among young women. According to studies, social media is part of the problem, with one in five people saying browsing through their feeds makes them feel lonely.

“At its core, music is about connecting with others - whether sharing a favorite song or hanging at a concert (with a couple thousand friends),” Daigle told The Christian Beat. “Bumble BFF is similar in a way, in that people can find comfort and connect to others through conversation.”

Bumble is taking steps to empower women and encourage them to reach out to each other for support through their BFF platform, aimed at helping female users make friendship connections based on mutual interests. The latest celebrity partnership with Daigle aims to bring fans of the Christian music singer together. She has grown a particularly strong fanbase for giving voice to internal challenges that many young women face. One of her biggest hits “Rescue” is about a lonely young woman struggling with several vices, who yearns to be healed as she falls into despair. This song inspired her partnership with the female-friendly dating app.

Daigle spoke with Parade Magazine about the song and Bumble, saying: “Social connectivity has created this bizarre reality where we know every detail of everyone’s life, but don’t really have a connection at all. In many ways, we’re more separated and distant than ever, and that can make a lot of people feel lonely and isolated. It’s important to have a circle of friends you can hang out with, and to have a support system around you.”

Daigle is offering Bumble BFF users a chance to get an all-expenses paid trip to New York, where they will attend a performance and have an opportunity to hang out with her backstage. Five other winners will receive tickets to one of her upcoming shows. People can sign up for or log into Bumble BFF until September 3rd to enter the contest.

Bumble VP of Marketing Chelsea Maclin told The Christian Beat, "At Bumble, we truly believe that one connection can change the course of your life…We want to normalize the need to make new friendships throughout every phase in life. We're excited to partner with Lauren and to collaborate on gifting this unique experience to one of our lucky users.
