Refer a Friend to Another on Bumble

Dating app Bumble is releasing new features for its free and premium services, aimed at fostering a kinder, more curated dating experience, according to the company’s press release.

Mashable noted that one of the new features is Review Before You Send, and will be part of its Compliments feature. While Compliments is intended to encourage positive interactions over the app, sometimes the message isn’t received well, no matter the intention of the sender. In fact, as Bumble tested Review Before You Send, they found that 46 percent of people chose to edit their Compliment after they received the prompt, because it encouraged them to reread their message and think twice about sending it.

Another new feature the app is launching allows users to add their interests to the top of their profile (modeled after the app’s hit “Top Artists” feature, where a favorite band or singer is placed front and center in a user’s profile).

The Top Artist feature was especially attractive to women, who were reported twice as likely to swipe right on a profile that highlighted musical tastes they had in common. Bumble is hoping to see the same results in increased compatibility and matches with the new interest highlight feature.

"We know intentionality and compatibility are of utmost importance to our community, and these features enable members to see shared interests and have common ground from the start," said Bumble founder and CEO Whitney Wolfe Herd in the company’s press release. "Not only do they provide yet another way to make the first move, but they are also another marker to help our community maximize their Bumble experience."

Bumble compared the new interest highlight feature to its Recommend to a Friend feature as well, in terms of creating better match results for users of its app. (Recommend to a Friend allows users to send profiles to their friends, if they think they would be a better match.) This new feature will also be available to free and premium users of the app.

The last feature Bumble added, as part of its Best Bees offering according to Mashable, is only for premium users. Best Bees uses AI to provide 4 carefully curated and “compatible” profiles per day to all users – and while everyone receives these curated matches, they can only like one per week. However, Bumble is now allowing premium users to be able to swipe on as many as they want with no restrictions. And for an extra fee, some premium users can also see their Best Bees highlighted within Encounters, and filter those Best Bees profiles to people who have already liked their profile. With this feature women are 1.5 times more likely to match with someone on their Best Bees list and 5 times more likely to swipe right.
