According to Steve Penner, if you are a man in your 40's it is fairly easy to increase the number of single woman you can meet online through dating sites. He said not only should you just be yourself, but you should open yourself up to meeting woman close to your own age. A lot of men over the age of 45 want to meet a single woman who is 10 or even 20 years younger than them. If this is a strong preference for them it can greatly reduce your chances of meeting any woman, plus it places you in direct competition with much younger men. Steve goes on and stresses:

The fact is that today's 50-year-old single woman is not "your father's 50-year-old woman." To use another worn out expression "50 is the new 35." Have you guys noticed what many 50-year-old women look like these days?

Improved diet and fitness workouts have kept them in much better shape than women of a similar age from previous generations. Many if not most of these women also have careers, which further motivate them to lead a healthy lifestyle and to look good in the work place.

If you think keeping your ideal matches age range near your age, imagine setting your age range to 5 years above your age. Doing this will give you a large number of quality woman to choose from and increase your chances exponentially of meeting the right woman for you.

Earlier this month ChristianCafe.com announced that American and Canadian members now have improved search functionality. Members can now search for other members based on a distance from a postal or zip code. This search parameter can be combined with other search options.

To try out Distance Search simply create a New Search just like before. You will see Distance as the third option down. The zip/postal code you see there by default is the one that we have on file as part of your profile. If you would like to change it, change your address under Edit Profile. You can always change the zip/postal code on-the-fly for every search (just input it right in the box). Every new search you do, however, will default back to the zip/postal code indicated in your profile settings.

Christian Cafe staff also suggest you update any saved searches you are using to specify a maximum distance to find members.

Seattlepi.com did a piece on a facial recognition from ActiveSymbols called Eyealike. This technology is able to gather the properties of a face from a picture. Such facial traits would include hair color, location and spacing of eyes, and skin tone. Company President Greg Heuss hopes this technology would be used for online dating to allow singles to search for a match by just a picture alone. He also sees applications in homeland security and video copyright protection.

While I find this type of technology neat I feel its use is very limited in online dating. It's much easier and faster to get the member to fill out the physical attributes of his or her profile than to try and get them to upload a photo that meet the necessary requirements for the software to be able to gather the information. This technology works best when the photo is something like a passport photo, which is fine for the software but usually is not very flattering for someone trying to find a date.

Try out a beta version of Eyealike and find your Dream Date or Celeb Match.
