The quarantine has had a Positive Effect on most Relationships

Dating site eHarmony has found that quarantine helped solidify new relationships at an accelerated speed as people partnered and navigated lockdown together. The company also found that it helped long-term couples feel more connected, too.

Relate, a non-profit that provides mental health and counseling services, worked with eHarmony to gather the data. According to Good Housekeeping, they found that 63% of respondents say their relationship feels stronger after quarantining together, and 58% say they know they want to be with their partner forever.

eHarmony now has Video Dating

Dating app eHarmony has released a new feature called Video Date, in time to help its users form better connections over its app. This is especially timely as the world shelters in place from the outbreak of coronavirus.

Video Date is a one-on-one video chat service that is available within the eHarmony app. Touting its safety, eHarmony says the key distinguishing parts of its new feature are the security measures the company put in place. No member will be forced to exchange private information such as a mobile number, nor will they be “faced with the additional safety concerns associated with moving to an external platform,” according to the company’s press release

The Happiness Index: Love and Relationships in America

Sex. Politics. Equality. Mental health. Climate change. Commitment. These are the things on couples’ minds in 2020, according to eHarmony’s third annual installment of "The Happiness Index: Love and Relationships in America."

Eight-two percent of American couples say they’re happy in their current romantic relationships (down just slightly from last year’s 83%). Although there’s no exact science to creating a satisfying partnership, surveys like these offer insight into what makes successful couples thrive. Two factors at the top of the list are sex and quality time.

Couples in 2020 are more likely to prioritize sex than couples in 2019. This year’s Happiness Index found that 86 percent of couples who have sex with their partner weekly are happy. The 78 percent of couples who have sex monthly and 66 percent who have sex a few times per year are less happy than their counterparts. But it’s not just sex that matters — couples who focus on both sex and quality time with each other are happier (87 percent) than couples who focus only on sex (69 percent) or quality time (82 percent).

2020 Dating Sites Reviews Choice Awards - Match System
Recipient
eHarmony

The 2020 Editor's Top Pick - Match System award recipient is eHarmony. This dating service had a whirlwind year. They where acquired by German Broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 and then late in 2019, they launched a big update which included not only interface changes but major core improvements to how the actual service works. These changes happened to both their website and dating apps (available on iOS and Android). Don't worry, eHarmony is still all about matching and their revamped Compatibility Quiz (originally called the Relationship Questionnaire) shows their commitment to their continued strategy of matching members to create meaningfully long term relationships. Another surprising thing from the update is that the new eHarmony now will provide matches for someone looking for a relationship with the same gender. It doesn't matter what your gender is either, as both have almost an equal chance of finding someone since eHarmony's members are made up of 51% men and 49% women.

On November 4th eHarmony released a massive update to their dating service. Both the website and dating apps (iOS and Android) received a complete overhaul.

It was just a year ago that eHarmony was purchased by Germany's Parship Elite Group. At that time Parship Elite Group planned to move eHarmony to their existing platform which currently runs their other dating platforms (most are in Europe). An interview with Tim Schiffers, the CEO of Parship Elite Group stated that the migration could take as long as a year but would be well worth it since they have invested a lot in their technical setup to ensure ease of maintenance and feature upgrades.
