My Transsexual Date is a dating site that caters specifically to the transgender singles community, and since its launch in 2014, has become the leading online dating platform for transgender women and trans oriented men looking for love.

Currently, the website has over 25 million page views per month, more than one million profiles worldwide, 55,000 monthly active users, and 600 new daily subscribers. The platform also sees about 75,000 messages sent per day between users. My Transsexual Date is not yet available as a mobile app, but the website works well on smartphones if you prefer to set up a profile that way.

Some benefits of their dating platform: there’s a higher level of moderation than on regular apps to avoid fake and indecent profiles, as well as to curb harassment. There’s also no advertising, a rarity in the online dating market.

 Bumble Pandemic Badge

Dating app Bumble announced the addition of three new COVID-related profile badges that users (it is unclear if this is just for users in India or all users) can choose from to indicate how socially distant they want to be on a date.

The three badge choices are virtual, socially-distanced, and socially-distanced with masks to clearly identify their comfort levels with dating during the pandemic. Company executives told The Hindustan Times that this alleviates the awkwardness of conversations surrounding COVID-19, and how each dater feels about interaction.

Struck is an Astro Matchmaking App for iOS

Struck, a dating app focused around astrology, has launched this summer after some initial delay from Apple’s approval process.

Founded by a team of former Apple engineers made up of mostly women, including two women of color and one LGBTQ+ member, the app is notably different from mainstream dating apps in look and functionality. According to Tech Crunch, the app recommends matches based on detailed birth charts, not just your sun sign. So instead of photos being front and center, charts are the main draw. You can toggle back and forth between someone’s chart and their profile which includes a short bio, age, preferred pronouns, height and sexual preference. Nadine Jane is the company’s resident astrologer and expert.

Another category the company highlighted that’s also available to all users is called “Question Pros,” and includes the profiles of daters who have answered a higher number of questions on the app than the average user.
