Is dinner and a movie still a go-to date, or is that passe in a world of swipes? Two of Millennials’ favorite services - Tinder and Grubhub - teamed up to uncover the dining and dating preferences of modern singles.

"Most first dates involve food, so partnering with Grubhub to learn more about how eating preferences affect compatibility was a perfect fit for us," said Rosette Pambakian, vice president, global communications and brand of Tinder. "The findings are interesting and highlight the important role food plays in dating."

The poll surveyed more than 2,000 Tinder users across the US. Participants used Tinder’s signature swiping system to indicate their food-related dating preferences, revealing a significant divergence from longstanding stereotypes.

eHarmony has built a stellar reputation as one of the Web's most reliable dating services since it launched in 2000. The company is a pioneer in the field, one of the earliest to use science to create highly compatible relationships based on key dimensions of personality that are proven to predict successful long-term relationships.

In recent years, eHarmony has lost some of its sex appeal. It’s not as flashy or as technologically advanced as some of its competitors, but it remains a firm favourite for singles who are serious about finding love. The company knows its market well, and to further target them as the industry gets even more crowded, they have just announced the launch of eHarmony Premium.

eHarmony Premium offers an even more curated approach to online dating that builds upon their already-advanced matching algorithm to increase your odds of meeting the right person.

Cubicle life got you down? Now you can toggle between spreadsheets and Super Likes in a flash. ‘Not Enough Storage?’ Not a problem," Tinder announced on its official blog.

To start, visit Tinder.com from any browser. The experience will look familiar to anyone who has already used the app: login with Facebook, choose your photos, write a bio, and start searching. Tinder is also testing the ability to login via SMS directly from mobile phones in markets where Facebook access is limited.

For the Easter holiday weekend eHarmony in the United States and Canada is offering free communication for 5 days starting Thursday April 13th and running until the end of day on Monday April 17th, 2017.

Holidays are an extra busy time for online dating services and eHarmony is no exception. This is true especially during the spring and the start of good weather. No coupon code or credit card is required for free communication and all you need to do is create a free membership account and profile on eHarmony. Once you have created your profile you will start to receive your matches. For matches that are compatible with your personality you should also fill out the relationship questionnaire. This takes about 30 minutes to complete but is well worth it since these matches have a better chance of creating a long-term relationship.

Once you have your matches you can then communicate with them and send and receive messages. During this event viewing of profile photos are not included with the free trial, you will have to become a paying member for this feature.

For more details about this matchmaking service known for creating long-term relationships you can check out our review of eHarmony.

Siren Closes

Susie Lee and Katrina Hess co-founded Siren which launched 3 years ago in 2014 as a dating app designed for women where they could start the conversations they wanted. Women had the ability to view men’s profiles, ask them questions and find out who they like. They could also hide their profiles from unwanted views.

We have since learned that Siren closed their digital doors Friday April 7, 2017 due to financial reasons and obligations not met by investors. In the end Siren could not compete with other similar dating apps which had more funding and people to run the day to day operations.

For full details on the closure you can read the co-founders Good Bye post found on the Siren blog.

Study by Consumer Reports

Consumer Reports has decided to get into the love game. The non-profit organization has been around since 1936, and typically reviews consumer satisfaction with products and services, but now it wants to know about dating apps, and how satisfied customers appear to be.

We all know where this is going. Well, maybe not.

Consumer Reports found two interesting and diametrically opposed results. First, consumers hate online dating with a passion, even more than tech support services, which are notoriously poor performers. Those surveyed didn’t rate any service as more than average as far as overall satisfaction. OkCupid got the best ratings of all online dating services, including Tinder, but it got a reader score of only 56. (Tinder was second with a 52 rating.) Reader scores were evaluated by a number of factors, including messaging and search features, privacy settings, the ease of use and sign-up process, as well as quality and quantity of matches.
