Millions of people are turning to TikTok to get ideas for what to do on a date or to spice things up with their partner. TikTok’s newest viral dating craze is Alphabet Dating, where a couple goes through the letters of the alphabet to create out-of-the-box date ideas.
Instead of letting things get stale (and doing the same thing over and over), TikTokers are posting their Alphabet Date ideas to help inspire others. For example, if you start with the letter A, you can imagine places to go or things to do that begin with the letter A, like visiting an aquarium or doing an archery session, as website Bustle notes. Then the next week, you look for “B” activities like bowling, bike riding, or playing board games. And so on until you go through the alphabet.
Partners can take turns coming up with ideas each time they plan. The idea is to go through the entire alphabet as inspiration to keep things fresh, new and exciting.
Alphabet Dating isn’t the first TikTok dating craze. There was The Target Challenge, where TikTokers posted videos of themselves going with their dates to Target and grabbing two shopping carts. Each partner then goes through the store to find gifts for the other – like their favorite snack, something in a color that they love, something to do together, and so on. Some couples would set time limits or spending limits for an added challenge.
Which Fast Food was another viral trend, where couples would let a TikTok filter choose different fast food places where they could each order an entrée, a dessert and a side. For example, if they got “Wendy’s” on the filter, they could each choose which course for the meal and what they would order, then choose the next place to order. Once they decide all three courses, the fast food date night can begin.
Alphabet Dating is a longer-term challenge, requiring multiple date nights to get through all the letters. Some are easier than others, but daters can look to other TikTok videos for advice as Bustle points out. For example, for “V” you can volunteer together or do a video game night, and for “U” you can do an “unplugged” night together. For “Z” dates you can visit a zoo or go zip lining, according to one video.
This game doesn’t have to be only for dates; a lot of people are sharing that they take these dating challenges with their besties when they are looking for new things to do together.
