I tried an experiment on Plenty of Fish with my photo for my profile this week. Before, I always put up a photo of me smiling. Well in the past month I haven't had much luck so I changed the photo to one where I am not and in which I have an arrogant look.

To my surprise I got many more views and about twice the messages. The photos are pretty similar other than my facial expression. I actually took the photo the same night as the other one but rejected it since I thought it wasn't one that would get responses.

Why is this? Do women like men who are more serious?

I think it doesn't matter if you are smiling or not as long as you put some mystery on your photo and it's much better if you don't show right away your personality at that image.So that women would be interested to know you more.
