Parents do not know about me

We have been dating for almost a year and I have yet to meet my boyfriends parents. He has met mine a number of times for dinner and the holidays.

The other day when he was on the phone with his parents he told me to be quiet. I told him to say hello from me but he never did. I know his ex met the parents a couple of months into the relationship so I am not sure what is going on. Is this weird?
