What do you think of dating videos? Some sites are now offering them.

On dating and meeting someone. I think you learn more about the person seeing them on a video. Has anyone here tried them? I will, this week. Lava Life now offers them.

I am the webmaster of a small regionally targeted dating site. My site has the feature of video profiles. I have been running since January and have just over 200 members (real profiles, I screen each one to make sure they are from the region), and not one person has used the video profile feature. Right now I still offer free memberships with all features; Webcams, chat, forums, instant messaging, matchmaking software, pretty much everything you could want. Nobody uses the extra features. There are a lot of good profiles, people really take the time to fill them out ,they add photos, which you can tell are from webcams but they dont leave a video profile. If you would like to try out the site and mabey let me know what you think of the feature I would appreciate any comments.
If you would like to check out my site Email me and I will give you the url with a test profile that you can use to check out the features.

Some people are just not photogenic.
I am not . And most people are really not unless they have been prfessionally 'made up' like in glamour shots (that still around?)
So you either have people that look bad on film but look fine or great in real life and they get passed by because they don't photograph well (and the camera adds weight), or they get a professional make over and it is not the real person you are looking at.
I once went out with this woman that was pretty the night we went out.
I had another date the next day and asked is ___ was home. The person was the same one that I went out with but did not have her makeup on.
Both of us were embarrased.
I think I have a terrrible phone voice even though I talked on the phone for a living for 20 years. My voice is neutral but a lot mistake it for feminine and I asssure you that I am NOT.
But a lot of guys don't have a shiskey voice any more than a woman has a sexy purr.
There is an actress that is fairly popular that sounds like a little girl and when she was making movies in her teens, it was sexy.
Now she sounds kind of dumb.
Kind of like getting that tatoo when yiou were 20. It looked cool. But as you get older, that tatoo looks bad when your skin sags or that buterfly or saying that seemed cool in your younger days now seems childish when you hit middle age.

Well I have a large dating network of 800k members and I have had video profiles for 3 yrs and I only have a handful of people who use them. I dont understand it. We have video chat rooms that get a ton of video feeds but no profiles.

The last poster pretty much confirms what I say about people not being photogenic.
I am a decent photographer (only as a hobby) and MOST women do NOT want to be photographed unless they are all made up.
But a spontaneous snap shot is the last thing they want .
Also, it is a fact taht men age better than woemn. It is because of muscle structure amoung other reasons. Sean Connery was voted sexiest man alive and he was in his 70's by People magazine.
I have never seen a woman in her 70's (or 40's) as sexiest woman alive in any magazines.
There are a few classic beautiful woman that seem ageless and I prefer a more mature look on a woman.
But most people do not like how thy look and /or sound on video and unless it is shot with expensive professional equip, emt and not a camera bought at Best Buy, then the person will look worse than in real life because the operson operating the camera probably has no knowledge of lighting, posing, maekup.
This sums it up best for me.
Ever look at a model being photographed? She is usually surrounded by a lot of support people like a lighting expert, makeup artist, etc and note some guy with an expensive camera taht does not know how to use it.
And shooting people is a lot harder than shooting landscapes which are not shot the same way and are much easier to acheive good results.
