What should I email people I like on dating sites to get them to reply?

I notice a lot of men saying they cannot get any replies to their emails (I inlcude myself in this category) on dating sites. I would like to ask ladies just what they consider a first good contact email message? Men have you any success? Help us out here! What should or shouldn't we be doing in a first contact message?
