Top 6 Reddit Communities for Daters

Dating can be confusing, which is why so many people turn to their friends, social media or a Reddit forum to ask questions or to understand and resolve challenges they face. If you aren’t familiar with using Reddit, there are some very popular subgroup discussions for a wide range of topics that involve dating.

Reddit is an open platform where people can anonymously post their story, question or dilemma and open it up for others to respond. Users can subscribe to different topics and get notifications when a new thread is added, or when their thread has a new comment. It’s a place where you can take a really deep dive into a subject that interests you.

There are a number of popular online dating communities on Reddit. We put together our own choices for you to check out:

Reddit Community: r/relationships

This community has 2.9 million members and was created back in 2008. It describes itself as “a community built around helping people and the goal of providing a platform for interpersonal relationship advice between redditors.” Most of the questions relate to a current relationship issue – a cheating partner, people who aren’t sure if they should get married, or those experiencing communication problems. Other users can chime in and offer their advice.

Reddit Community: r/dating_advice

A community with 1.6 million members, dating advice includes people both giving advice and asking for some themselves. One popular thread includes “weekly vents and successes,” which was lifted to the top of the thread by moderators due to its popularity. Recent posts involve discussions about dating during the pandemic - including a community member finding someone over a dating app while under quarantine. It was created in 2010.

Reddit Community: r/datingover30 & Reddit Community: r/datingover40

These are age-based communities talking about the specific challenges that arise with dating past your twenties (i.e. dealing with questions from friends who might ask: “why is someone like you still single?”). Some people have just gone through a divorce or left a long-term relationship, while others have been single for a while and are looking for advice or reassurance. The Over-40 group has 15,000 members, while the over 30 group (which does include those over 40!) has over 146,000 members.

Reddit Community: r/AskWomen

This group has 1.4 million subscribers and was created in 2010. While not all threads in this community are directed at dating or romantic relationships, it is a subgroup of dating and there are still a lot of questions people ask about their romantic lives. It is described as: “A subreddit dedicated to asking women questions about their thoughts, lives, and experiences; providing a place where all women can comfortably and candidly share their responses in a non-judgmental space. As part of our commitment to that mission, the AskWomen subreddit is curated to promote respectful and on-topic discussions, and not serve as a debate subreddit.”

Reddit Community: r/NiceGuys

This community has 1.2 million subscribers and was created in 2010. Many of the posts are screenshots of text threads, memes, or other rebukes of men who are looking for hookups or love in questionable ways while they claim to be “nice guys.” If you want some comic relief, or if you want to just vent or see what weird situations other people encounter while dating, check it out.

Reddit Community: r/Lonely

This community has 136,000 members, and supports people who are feeling isolated or living alone, whether they are dating or not. It is described this way: “A sub for all the lonely people. Everyone is welcome here, no matter your age, race, sex, sexuality, relationship status, all that we request is that you be accepting of people, and kind.”

DatingSitesReviews Forum

Not to be left out, here at DatingSitesReviews.com we also have our own online dating and relationship forum which you can check out. It is organized by categories and is very active. It covers everything from help with dating apps to relationship questions.
