It's Just Lunch partnered with American Way In Flight Magazine to poll airline passengers about dating. One of the first question they asked passengers is, how long does it take them to decide on the first date whether they will go on a second date with the person?
- 13 percent would give their date longer than 1 hour.
- 22 percent usually gives a date 1 hour.
- 66 percent of respondents said in the first half hour of meeting a person is when they decide if they will ever go out with the person again.
- 16 percent said they decide in 5 minutes.
- A further 5 percent know right away.
It's Just lunch also found that the younger you are, the more impatient you most likely will be. 20 percent of singles aged 21 to 39 decided in 5 minutes if they would date a person again, this is 4 percent higher than the average for all age groups. Similarly, 33 percent of singles aged 40 to 49 would take more than 1 hour to decide. On average 22 percent of all age groups took 1 hour.
It's Just Lunch also asked passengers how many dates they go out on in a given year. On average the single respondents said:
- 9 percent went on over 25 dates.
- 19 percent went on 11 to 25 dates.
- 23 percent went on 6 to 10 dates.
- 37 percent went on 1 to 5 dates per year.
- 12 percent did not date.
On a final note. If you are single and chat up someone next to you who is also single, there is a 25 percent chance that he or she may be interested in dating you.
