It's really hard to get your profile noticed with the millions that are on the major single sites. Below are some tips for you to consider when you create your profile:

Include a photo. Research shows that your profile being view increases by eight times if it includes a photo. Your main photo should be of yourself posing for the camera. Make sure it is good quality and that there is no one else in the photo. It is even better if you get a professional to take the shot. It should cost under $15 per photo to do this. Wal-Mart has a good portrait studio and they can give you the picture on a cd for easy uploading to the single sites or you could give LookBetterOnline.com a try. I would also include additional photo's of you having a good time doing things you love. This allows the person viewing your photo's get a better idea of what you are like.

Headlines are hard to write. It's best to write something that is catchy and relates to you. A good example of a headline is the title from the movie "Sleepless in Seattle". It's memorable plus it gives the viewer a little bit of information about yourself. I would avoid using lots of punctuation or cryptic words. This looks unprofessional.

Add those keywords. Most dating sites these days have keyword searching to find profiles. This basically means as an example, if you typed the keyword "cowboy" and click the search button, the dating site will then display all profiles that contain the word cowboy in them. So if you are interested in say, mountain biking and the dating site only lets you select the word biking in the interests section of the profile I would then restate your interests (and give more details) in the essay questions usually included at the end of most dating profiles. This will allow singles looking for someone who is interested in mountain biking to find you easier since your profile will contain those two keywords and not just biking.

Login often and check out other singles on the site. Most dating sites keep track of the last time you have logged in. Usually dating sites, when displaying search results will show members who are online first. This will be followed by members who are not online but have logged in fairly recent. The obvious reason for this, is to make sure that the members will view profiles that have a stronger chance of someone responding back to them (if they initiate contact) since they are online more often.

Dating has become easier for everyone due to the emergence and success of online dating websites. You can choose the site that suits you best, look for people who have the features you desire along with common interests and contact them immediately. Some dating sites are featuring their own instant messaging for members to instantly communicate with each other. This is a great way to make contact and get excited about a new date. But when you start chatting back and forth, the other person is typing recognizable words along with small clusters of letters here and there. What are they saying? These are considered to be "Net Lingo" and are commonly used Internet acronyms.
