Maybe they use your income level in matching?

Most likely it is used for advertising. If your income level is a certain level you will see higher priced items.

Heck... look at the site we are on, they have this post which I just read:

about POF releasing a study on relationships, siblings and income levels. This proves they definitely use the information for something.
