I have researched hundreds of websites and I have to say over 60% of dating websites buy dating profiles that are not genuine when you register you will get hundreds of messages from people in and around your area. But to contact them you have to pay to upgrade, as soon as you do you will see that the messages dry up and you don't get any hits. Some of the sites even use pictures of young celebrity's with made up names that have never put any profile on line at all. I myself have decided to build a introduction agency for all gender an all over 30's up to 99 nobody's profile or photo will be shown all applicants will be vetted and approved and personally matched I think it's important to keep personal information just that personal. This way at least there is no fake pictures no fake profiles and most important I will be able to match each individual with what they each are looking for. This is an ongoing project and will be rolled out towards the end of 2014 so any people serious about finding that special person watch this space.

The dating software ALL comes with fake people and profiles. The issue is how does a person start a service when they have no base of profiles.

I'm starting one that is very specialized UFO/conspiracy/cryptozoology/paranormal. But I am having people sign up ahead of the grand opening. That way I can open with enough people and not have to have fake people on it.

I would look for how long they have been open. That should tell you a little about the site.
