Just wondering if it is worth trying out online dating? I did use it about 10 years ago and I met a few people online. My relationship recently ended and I have heard through friends online dating now days is all about hooking up. If you are looking for a relationship (like me) it is better to look elsewhere.

I was thinking about trying the Plenty of fish site. Should I or should I just forget and join a singles meetup group or something?

Do not think my response will be of any value to you … but felt to reply anyway so your question will not be so lonely here until will be better response . Besides, on more or less generic level I do have opinion on this but I cannot really answer from personal experience, as I am actually looking for “friends with benefits”… Ok, that is not the same as “hook up”… Actually, lately I find that most people do not even get anymore what is the difference …
Anyway, personally I think this online dating got so much “commercialized” and “scammed”, that it became very difficult no matter what type of dating you are after… I have been “on” and “off” online for around 15 years, got back into dating about a year ago and personally find that even sites I have used back then now are much worse. Still there are real people, but now you never know who is real, and mostly are fakes …

From non-personal experience (yes, I do have single girls, just friends too ) and they say generally the similar applicable even if you are looking for a serious relationship, but also it depends where are you from. (I got friends in a few different countries).
In short, they still use it, but also other means as well…

POF – have no clue. Have heard only 2 of them mentioned it, and both had totally opposite opinion but they also used it about couple of years ago. Things could have changed
