Smartphones – Reasons they are bad for dates and relationships

Grrrr, after a bad date last night due to the girl I was out with always being on her phone I did a quick search and found a number of reasons why smartphones are bad for relationships and dates.
Number 1 in my books since I just experienced it was they are a constant distraction. This girl I was with took 2 phone calls and must have texted about 10 times on our second date. I felt like the only way I could actually talk to her was text her.
Other reasons I found include:
2. It is easy for miscommunication when texting. This is due to how short text messages are, plus all the texting acronyms can be misinterpreted.
3. All that texting with multiple people can make real commitment not possible. Also text-heavy relationships can make it look like someone is more into you than they really are.
4. Secrets can by much easier to hide with a smartphone but they can also be make them easier to find if people are not careful.
Did I overlook any other reasons smartphones are bad for dates?

I hate all cell phones. It doesn't matter if you are with your family, friends or a date. Your cell phone should be off. There is no reason to look at texts or receive phone calls when you are actively socializing with someone else.
PERIOD!

I do miss the time before smartphones. You could enjoy a conversation or dinner without interruption. When it happens people look sheepish and say they are sorry but they still go ahead and answer it and leave it on afterwards. I could guarantee that almost all of the calls and texting is fluff and irrelevant and could have been left for after the date.
When she was on the phone you should have texted her. I did that once to a women and it shut her up. She must have been on the phone for over half the date. When I got fed up with the last call she took I texted her that she was rude and didn’t have any manners. She looked completely shocked . I then stood up and left the restaurant leaving her the bill.
She deserved it.
