Datehookup.com INFLATES membership figures

How do I know this? For about a month, I have noticed the only way to view any members (this is a free site) is to join their merry band.
Same thing about viewing their forums. Same thing about any type of search to see If you want to join.
While it Is free, many will just think up a user name, give a fake e mail address and become a member.
Then this perosn finds this site is on par with Plenty of fish as far as quality and effectiveness.
So Datehookup can now boost that they have thousnds of new member joing everyday. Perhaps. but most of these new members are just crusing to see if the site is any good and most have no intention of posting a good profile or photo.
But this is like the way magazines do things. They offer dirt cheap subscriptions to attract advertsiers.
Datehookup is using this same principal.
feels sleazy to me that you have to join a date site just to see if you really want to belong.

Yep, I couldn't agree more with you, on that. a VERY good percentage of female profiles on datehookup are "fake" as well. I'm assuming that it's the site administrators who respond to most the messages. You'll also notice, that there are quite a few profiles who have a "decent" pic of themselves but in the self description box, it says, "(no description provided)". When you send these people a message, asking them some basic questions, most of the questions are "dodged" and the respond back is so vague and impersonal that one can only assume that it is being answered by a site administrator. Just some more food for thought. Be careful when using that site. "Okcupid.com" is actually a better site for online dating and it is also free. Although, I use both sites from time to time, Okcupid is much better in terms of having alot less fake profiles.
