Unfortunately that is the way reviews work on the internet and with sites like TrustPilot.

Most people only write reviews when they have a bad experience and are upset. Then they take the time and find a website to write a review about whatever product or service. Someone who has a good experience rarely does this unless prompted.

How sites like TrustPilot work is companies who wants a better reputation online pays for access to TrustPilots review system. This allows the company to redirect their users (either through emails or prompts on the service) who are willing to write reviews about the companies service to TrustPilot. The company gets to hand pick these users so for the most part they pick ones they know who have good experiences. Hence the influx of better reviews.

If you think about it that is how the app stores work as well and why apps always ask you to rate their product.

Amazon approaches reviews a similar way but prompts a user with an email after some time your order has been delivered. Of course I have seen Amazons review process been manipulated by companies offering incentives like discounts, credits, or other products to customers who write a favorable review. The more and higher the ratings the higher the product will appear in the search results.
