curious
I JOINED A DATING SITE AND CORRESPONDED WITH A GUY WHO SEEMED SUCH AND AMAZING PERSON BUT THEN SUDDENLY STARTED ASKING ME FOR MONEY ON 3 OCCASSIONS WITHIN A NUMBER OF DAYS. THE FIRST TIME HE ASKED ME FOR MONEY I REALISED THAT HE WAS AN AFRICAN NATIONAL IN WHOSE COUNTY THIS KIND OF SCAMMING IS WELL KNOWN- YET HE INSITED HE LIVES IN THE US AND IS AN ENGINEER AND THE PHOTOS WERE ALL OF A CAUCASIAN MAN. I AM SURE SOMEONE POSING AS A WOMAN WITH BOGUS PICTURES PROBABLY SCAMMED THIS GUY OUT OF MONEY OR AT LEAST TRIED TO AND THEN THEY POSTED HIS PICTURE ON ANOTHER DATING SITE SO THEY COULD SCAM ME OR SOME OTHER WOMAN AND SO THEY CARRY ON FROM ONE TO THE NEXT- SO HOW DO YOU KNOW IF IT IS FOR REAL OR NOT? I THINK THE DATING SITES SHOULD VERIFY YOU BEFORE ALLOWING YOU TO POST PICTURES ETC! Rolling Eyes LASTLY HAS ANYONE GOT A SUGGESTION HOW I CAN FIND OUT WHO THE REAL GUY IN THE PHOTO IS?

Ifthe sites required verification, they would be out of business, because there would be nowhere else for singles to go to play games with each other.

I haven't been on dating sites for long....Just first tried it out about end of the summer....I found lavalife to be awful......Women on there send you there yahoo messenger ID, start talking to you..then say they are in africa on business, and don't have the money to get back home.....And ask for money in the next few days.....

Do people really fall for that crap???

Yes. Men in their 20s especially are suckers for those sites.

It's actually very scary with the fact those swindlers play with people's hope for finding true love or life partners. When you finally paid a little trust to the person on their fake photos, you actually fall into a deep *censored*. Both emotionally or mentally being manipulated by the deceiver groups mostly located in Africa. How can we stop this? Shall we brainstomy together to avoid further loose? Cry

Most dating sites are filled with fake profiles of people trying to scam money out of who ever will talk to them. If someone messages you that you have no chance in h$ll of talking to in real life then most likely they are fake. I was talking to this one chick on pof that was down right hot. I was suspicious but I continued the conversation and later learned after I turned down sending her money multiple times that it was some dude. He was bragging that he almost duped me and there was nothing I could do about it. I almost forwarded my correspondences on to the police. That would teach them! Evil
