New Lavalife Site

On Nov.20, 2014 Lavalife was re-vamped and bears little resemblance to it's old self.

The new site has been out for two weeks for now and it's prettier but otherwise it's a complete disaster. A lot of useful and even essential features have been thrown out to give it a more streamlined look and feel, but with little or no thought as to why they were there in the first place. Search was hit hardest. As of now, you can only browse search within 2000-km radius. There isn't even a username search, leaving no way to connect with members you know outside the 2000-km unless they were preserved in one of your lists, like "Favorites" or "Viewed Me," which were preserved only in part, or in message history, which only goes back 30 days. There is no way to narrow your search for those who are currently online or who share certain specific interests, plus the only indexed interests (which you can't search on) are banal ones with cute icons like "Outdoors," "News/Politics," and "Cuddling" Users were promised that they would be able reveal certain content only to selected members, like intimate pictures, but in fact all of this content was thrown out, as was the text of intimate profiles except for those who only had intimate profiles.

As for the features that remain good luck in getting them to work. The site freezes constantly, and when you refresh you're usually forced to log in again. Then, since it still can't save the few search criteria you've entered, you have to enter them all over again, after which you can hope to execute one or two commands before it freezes again. I used to receive views, likes, etc., almost every time I logged in. Now days can go by with nothing from anybody. The site is like bombed-out city block with people searching for survivors, and searching less every day.

A final note. The last time Lavalife did an upgrade, there were technical problems and I contacted them and they were very responsive. I worked with them to clarify the problem, even sending screen shots, and the problem was fixed. I've contacted them twice since the launch of the new site and I've gotten nothing, not even a form letter.
