E HARMONY'S QUESTIONABLE ADS

I spent a good 40 minutes filling out the E Harmony "free personality profile"
only to be told I had no matches. I should have known something was off
when I saw the question on the profile did I think "church was/was not a good
place to meet people". Do they assume all who take their profile are regular
church-going Christians? I find out later- E Harmony's founder is a
conservative Christian whose books are sold on Christian "family values"
websites. They do not accept homosexuals either. (I am a straight, but non-
Christian, non religious woman)

I further resent their use of the word "scientific" in their advertising as there is
no "scientific" way to document what makes two people compatible. they
have also failed to produce stats on their divorce rate.

If they want to be faith based- that's their business. It would have saved my
valuable time to know these things up front. In that regard their ads are
misleading and deceptive.

I had the same experience - thanks for doing the research that explains a lot - I'm a Buddhist!!! Imagine that!

I have to agree with everything being said here. It was the very first dating service that I joined. Did not have any luck what so ever on this site. A total disappointment after seeing their ads shoved in your face on TV all the time. The word "Scientific" is used very loosely. A bunch of questions is still not going to make two people click thats for sure. Not to mention the fact that they charge a lot of money to join and you don't get anything in return. At least for me anyway. I would not recommend that site to anyone and not because I did not have any luck! I just think it was a waste of my time and money. I had better luck on Yahoo and American Singles.

I did the so-called "7-day trial" and after 6 days of no success I decided to cancel to get my money back, they claim I never cancelled. Now I'm fighting to get my $59 back. They keep sending me emails telling me to cancel...after I already cancelled. I actually hate them now...a bunch a liars.

Your right, No-Harmony, and the doctor that does there ads on TV, if in fact he is a doctor. After six days I did the samething as you. That was 3 months ago, they lie just for the sake of lieing. If we could find enough X-members with the same trouble, we could bring a class action suit agenest them. I don't think what they do is right or the way they do it.
