The concept of "Likes" was new in the year 2005, with Facebook which introduced the Like button having launched the previous year. DoULike foresaw asking singles the question "Who do you like?" as a great way to introduce men and women to online dating (way before Tinder ever thought of it). Overall DoULike is an extremely easy dating service to use (no matter what platform you try it on).

Creating an account is simple, whether you connect via Facebook or use just your email address. DoULike doesn't require a lot of profile information to be entered. The service is broken up into 3 main sections: "Meeting People" is for matching, you then have your different interaction lists for members (matches, liked, and liked you), and finally the Mail section where all the actual communication happens.

To filter users for matching it uses the basic criteria of gender, age range, and location along with photos to allow members to determine if they want to take things a step further. This is done by Liking the profile in the "Meet People" section. Once you liked them and they liked you, you are matched. At this point you can start sending messages to each other and see where the initial chemistry takes you. Virtual gifts can also be sent along with predefined Flirt messages to show interest in someone. These are usually sent to a member who has yet to Like you with the idea of hopefully persuading them to do so, at which point a more intimate conversation can be started.

Good news, DoULike is completely free for women to use. Females can create a profile, like matches, and read and send messages. When men first create an account, it will be automatically as a free member. Free male members can do most things a paid member who has a subscription can, except reading messages and replying to messages sent to you. Upgrading your account is stress free with costs for subscription being cheaper the longer the term you choose. For example, a 6 month subscription only costs 33 cents a day.

DoULike will appeal to users of all ages who want a more simplified online dating experience. If you want detailed searching or deep automated matching based on personality and 100's of other attributes, then this dating service is not for you. Fortunately, this service will appeal to most people especially since they focus solely on dating with no distracting online advertising anywhere on the website or apps. Having women use the service completely for free is a huge bonus as well since this means paid male members know that all women will be able to respond to their messages.

DoULike? Profiles & Sign Up Process

DoULIke can be accessed via their website, Facebook App, and smartphone apps on Android and iOS. There are two methods for new users to register on the website DoULike.com. One involves linking your Facebook account to your DoULike account which then imports your profile pictures as well as your basic personal information. The other is to use your email address. Here is the information they will request from you:

DoULike is amazingly easy to use and is well organized. Being advertising free helps keep down the clutter that other dating services suffer from. DoULike has most of the features you would expect from an established dating service.

Most features can be accessed directly from the main menu (found by tapping the sandwich icon at the top) with the app, using the tabs at the top on the website, viewing a profile, and viewing a list of profiles.

Your safety and privacy are important to DoULike. Wherever you can view a profile there is an option to report the user. When you click on the button an Abuse Report will come up asking you to choose the reason for the report. This can include things like Fake User, Scam, Rude, etc. You can also include a comment with the report. Once sent customer service will be notified. Within 24 hours they will review the account and determine what the appropriate action is to take (warning or removal of the account).

Searching and Matching

Similar to Tinder, DoULike is about location and matching. It doesn't have any real search options beyond changing just the basic criteria when you use "Meet People".

Matching

DoULike me takes the automated matching approach. Members cannot dive in and run a bunch of searches to find members. The only way for you to actively find other members on this dating service is to use the "Meet People" feature. This uses a swipe style vote approach by showing you a photo of the member (you can view all photos they have) along with their name and About description (if it has been filled out). You then either "Like" their profile by clicking the red heart icon, or you can pass by clicking/tapping on the green next icon. You cannot view any other information about the person until you like the profile/photo and/or they have liked yours. There are some settings you can change on this page to define the type of person you want to be matched with including preferred gender, age, and location. If you like you can also send a message to the person before you have liked or passed on the profile.

If you want to find out more about the members you have liked you must then visit the "I Like" page and view their profile from there (this only shows profiles you have liked but they have yet to like you). Members who have liked you (but you have not liked back yet) will appear in the "Like Me" section. The "Matches" section is for mutual likes. These are members who you have liked, and they have liked you.

Members on any of these pages that display a star icon tells you that they are a paid member. Members genders are represented by icons which are the two standard sex symbols are the Mars symbol ♂ for male and Venus symbol ♀ for female. Online people are indicated with the special blue image with blinking green waves.

One interesting thing with "Meet People" is the more you vote the more your profile will be shown to other members since you are actively participating in looking to find someone. Your popularity is shown on the same page and is represented by a bar graph showing your current popularity along with how many more votes you need to perform to achieve the next stage. Vote counts are based on the last 7 days with for example the first stage (of 5) being only 10 votes, stage 2 is 50 votes, stage 3 which is labeled "Average" is 350 votes, etc.

There is also an option to send to all users you clicked "Liked" an automated introduction message. It is disabled by default, but it can be activated on the Meet People and I Like page, or in the Settings section. When activated you must also write the actual introduction message to be sent. We would suggest that you keep this message witty but generic so that it would appeal to a wide variety of members.

At the bottom of the "Meets People" page you will also find "Star Members" section. These are members you can jump to right away and either like their profile or pass. For members to appear as a Star Member they either are a new member, are extremely active on the service, or have used credits to pay for the spot.
