Suppose, I'm 32 years old and have been single my whole life. I have always been very shy and suffer from social anxiety which has made dating almost impossible. I have worked very hard to deal with my issues and have made a lot of progress, but I still haven't had much luck when it comes to dating. I try really hard to stay positive and be happy being single, but lately it's been very difficult. My question is to the people who are in the same situation as me. How do you deal with being alone?

Hi, I have social anxiety as well. I was diagnosed and am taking antidepressants which help a lot. I cannot help with feeling lonely because I don't have that problem. I have always managed to find a boyfriend. Generally it's been someone i work with or go to school with because those activities are where i spend most of my time. Antidepressants changed things for me so now i go out and do other things besides working so i meet people doing my hobbies and activities.

Hi. I see your post is aged a bid and maybe you have the answers you were looking for but I am 68 years old and feel like I am in my 30s as I remember it. Only then and all my life until resently I suffered with great anxiety and depression until it caused chronic high blood pressure which now I take meds for. I had relationships and marriage and was still very lonely. I couldn't keep a job. I finally found counceling that provided some answers for daily improvement exercises and medication. The medication I am taking is clonazePAM and Escitalopram every night together. I can concentrate, stay focused, have more energy and now am an achiever. As a result of the medication I am able to reason and work things out. I am single, living alone with my 10 pound lap dog. Great companion. I am never lonely. I stay busy from the time I get up at 4 am until i go to bed. Now realistically that includes moments of rest or in my case and age a nap once in a while. This week I have been searching for an online chat partner with common interests and some creativity. Sincere people are nearly impossible to find. But I have some time I want filled with that kind of activity. It can be educating. But that's me.
