While meetup.com is an excellent service, be aware that at least one dating group out there is a scam. When you go to a "meeting," it turns out to be a pitch for a $600 "seminar." Meetup.com apparently has no resource to police these scams. I wish it did.

I was wondering about this. I was looking at a few single groups in my area and was worried that some of them might be scams. How do you figure out which is which?

i've searched numerous fetish sites and found all of them to be scams and i just avoid them and beware if you even try to join and last minute delete the site will copy your application and store it internally and start harassing you to join and spend money and you get nothing. even it site offers you to unsubscribe it doesn't completely erase all information.
