I have discovered many phony profiles on Lavalife, as well as many phony people and men just looking for a daily or nightly thrill. When I reported one such man to Lavalife their response was "prove it"! Clearly they could care less if they have phony profiles or con-artists on their site as long as they are generating users!!! I was on Lavalife for only a few weeks when I realized it is not a dating site but rather a fishing hole for players, liars and phoneys!!! One cannot possibly decipher the honest from the dishonest on the internet!!! In my opinion dating sites are no more than a modern day online bar full of users and players. Unless you enjoy spending too much time weeding out the bad ones I would suggest staying away from all these so called dating sites!!! They are NOT for the honest and genuine relationship seekers!!!!!!!!

niche sites are much better - while smaller, they provide better experience targeted towards your interest. All these sites are too general, cost way to much and waste too much time.
