That idea makes sense as a reaction to frustration with modern hiring systems, but it’s also a bit of a stretch in practice.

Dating apps are designed for personal connection, not professional screening, so using them for job hunting blurs boundaries fast and can come off as inappropriate or spammy if not handled carefully. Most people aren’t expecting career pitches there, and recruiters generally aren’t looking for candidates through swipes.

That said, the underlying point is real: people are trying to bypass automated filters and get to actual humans because traditional job applications often feel like a black hole.

If someone wants more “human access” to hiring, there are better channels than dating apps, like LinkedIn networking, industry communities, referrals, or direct outreach to employees.

So the trend says more about how broken the job search feels than it does about dating apps being a viable solution.
