Because I was new to both computer use and online dating, I joined any sites I could find which was 7!! In seeking someone local, I cancelled my membership in 3 of those sites after a few months because they had distant members only. On the remaining 4 sites there are many locals available - none of them the right one for me so far. Yes you can contact or respond to people for free and I have personally met a few men and dated each for long enough to find out that they weren't the one for me. All the best in your search ...... there is someone out there to suit each of us.

There are free sites--the one's I've seen do not cover being able to exchange emails, unless it could be a very short term period--I can understand there not being free sites. I would like to be able to get some insight as to how many men are in my area (that includes 30 miles)-I would be more interested in joining if I could view the members before joining. I've joined a couple only to find out that the site didn't have many members at all.

I am a paid member of two of the biggest online dating sites. In 4 years none has worked out for me. This is probably the hardest way to meet anyone. I can't imagine what it must have been like 100 years ago when people were writing letters to meet and sometimes over great distances!
