Christian Cafe Scam Alert

Authored by: Anonymous (Anonymous User) on Monday, July 07 2014 @ 06:35 pm
Scam Alert for Christiancafe! I have put my real name in this post because I want to highlight that I am a genuine person (google me - I am a journalist and published author) and have no other agenda except to share my conclusions of Christiancafe after my horrendous experience with them. First of all, it is not Christian owned, which can be verified by visiting the review at Singleroots. Not that you need such verification. Any fair minded person giving just a precursory look at Christiancafe's operational practices would certainly come to the conclusion that it's not run on anything remotely close to Christian values. Christiancafe behaves more like an online pimp or even more accurately, a drug dealer; preying on the most basic vulnerabilities of susceptible Christian believers. For, just like a drug dealer, the first 'taste' is free. This is how Christiancafe lures people in, offering a free initial trial of three or seven days etc. You'll notice that offer everywhere in their promotions. Everything appears rosy for those first few days - although, you are unaware, that any emails you send cannot be read by other members unless they themselves are on a free trial or they are paid members. Still, that in itself, being questionable is not even close to the worst of Christiancafe's deceptive practices. The real manipulation occurs after your free trial/taste ends. Upon logging into your account and finding the message 'your time has expired' on every option of the site, including the ability to search, see who has emailed you or even, if you can believe it edit your OWN profile. Unless you pay you can no longer even hide your profile from view nor can you change any of the content of own your profile, nor update or remove your own photos. Also, and this is the most frustrating part of it, you cannot remove your own profile! There is a visibility button by which you are told you can hide your profile - except that it does not work! There is also a function by which (they claim) you can delete your profile overnight but it either does not work or it only works temporarily. So, as soon as you have drifted away and forgotten about it, your profile miraculously re-appears on their site. Deactivated profiles as well as profiles that have long expired are how they entice new members. These profiles, although inactive, also have the mysterious ability to send emails to new members who have recently finished their free trials. Don't be fooled by these emails. They are just another disgusting and manipulative gesture by the Christiancafe management to get the lonely and unsuspecting to produce a credit card. It is a sad reality of our time and the frail security of online life that sites like Christiancafe can exist but it is my hope in writing this that other believers will practice more discernment than I did, and not be taken in by wolves parading as lambs..

Christian Cafe Scam Alert

I had a response that was not from a real person. Either it was a response from Christian cafe to get me to join and pay or someone has hacked the site. Either way it is a deceptive and a fraudulent site. They only want your money.

Someone hacked my debit card for a fraudulent charge. Someone ran my card for $34.97 early on a Saturday morning. 1-6-24 - christiancafeca. - luckily my bank flagged it as fraudulent. LBH

Christian Cafe Keeps sending emails

Authored by: Katherine316 on Saturday, December 22 2018 @ 12:53 pm
Check out article by Newstatesman on dating apps and addiction. it is all about making us come back & get addicted (for $profit). They even have the timing downpat. My fiancé was a paid member of Christian cafe 2.5 years ago. they never stopped emailing him matches to try to get him back. It turns out in an argument last year, which coincided on a free weekend, he clicked and then kept clicking on free weekends, and started email relationships with many women, pretending to be single. (Yes, his problem I know, & a very damaged likely irreparable relationship). The articles/studies compare dating app dopamine highs to those of cocaine, gambling, porn. He was a former (20 year ago) cocaine addict & now has this new addiction he can't seem to control. Only 5% of relationships start online & most never meet the people they correspond with on sites like this. But many people can't seem to help clicking, anticipating, hoping.
We had a heck of a time deleting his profile. Like the poster said, you can't change it if you don't pay. and you can't delete it. They keep showing your expired profile to others to alert you and draw you back & others think there are more available people on there than there are. We finally had to wait to a free weekend and delete the photos and all the words & actually typed in the profile something like, "I am engaged and can't seem to delete this profile. please don't contact me". then sent a message to "contact us" & said remove this profile. I am engaged!" Before it got deleted (we hope it is deleted or at least still empty!) there were actually women from overseas who still contacted him. Odd.

Simon, Thank you f/ posting this review. I'd experienced the same thing yrs. ago, too, w/ CC & also later w/ CM (Mingle). But yrs. later I'm still single & have since read the neg. reviews of CM (Christian Mingle), which has gotten 1,000 times worse since I joined yrs. ago while @ CC..& experienced quite similar things there, too, w/ sending me fake profiles in my e-mail which disappear when you click on them. Seriously?. & they changed & dumbed down the format & it just got way worse & I just lost interest. I'm still looking f/ Christian owned genuine, 100% honest Christian singles dating sites..w/ enough of a large database & worldwide database, to actually find high quality Christian men from which to find God's ideal future husband f/ me. The 2 truly Christian owned sites that I have found most recently, w/ research... have such small databases of single Christian men, that I've lost interest in both in a matter of weeks. Nobody new seems to come in during this time. This is why I started another search f/ Christian dating options & wound up back @ "The Cafe", thinking that maybe things have changed, or maybe the high price of membership has gone down, or might be worth it to find the man of my dreams, if he's there. (i'm running out of options, here) But I immediately saw a red flag when, as I was signing up & creating a new profile, when they sent me an e-mail notification that I was "eligible" to get local "matchmaking" assistance from Great Expectations, in my area. Great Expectations has tons of neg. reviews pointing out how scammy they are & how they'll get your credit card # from you & put unauthorized charges on it, & do unauthorized credit report & background check on you if you give them any info @ the 1st in person meeting introducing their service @ which time this is the 1st time you can access & view (in their office w/ them over your shoulder) their database of single men. I was about to contact CC about this & ask them to stop using Great Expectations as a referral, when I went to Google search I-forget-what.. & real reviews f/ Christian Cafe came up as one of the links that showed up in my search. & I thought, "Yeah, I should read that, first, before I finish creating a profile & searching their database of men, during their 10 day free trial.

& I'm thankful/glad that you used your real name w/ your review, Simon. That adds tremendous credibility to the review..knowing that it was written by a professional..& a writer/journalist... someone of high quality & integrity.

So, my Q. is...Simon, are you still single? I did Google search you, like you said, & I see that you are attractive. I am attractive, too, & I love to write, 2. I would like to become a writer of Inspirational Christian romance novels, f/ one thing. (I believe they're called "Love Inspired" w/ a little church steeple or spire logo on the side of the dust jacket..over the binding.
Have you found someone, yet? If not, maybe God would like US to meet & get to know ea. other, or connect, 1st...if I'm not above your ideal age range?

But It's too bad that dishonest sites are thriving, while our online options as genuine Christians, f/ meeting other high quality single Christians, & our future mates..go unmet. Want to start a new, better / best highest quality Christian online dating website w/ me? owned by Christians...?

Simon, don't know if you'll ever see this comment, but if so, I am grateful that you (& the others above) warned me a way from "trying" Christian Cafe again, out of desperation..because the options avail. especially f/ real Christians, are so few. & in OH, this Great Expectations chain is called "Real" Christian Singles. I read a review of them, too, online, because I stumbled across them, too, while searching f/ viable high quality w/ honesty & integrity Christian online dating websites, & stumbled across theirs, & because it said local Christians, I filled out the form, & rcvd. a call from a rep of theirs. She actually hung up on me when I insisted.."Why can't you tell me what your prices are?" "They (prices) should be straight fwd...a set flat rate per month or per 3 or 6 months..." She refused to tell me, saying she's not in that dept., & they make diff. packages f/ diff. people depending on their "circumstances" (like retirees on a fixed income get a diff. price, I guess).. (or your income, actually..is how they determine what your price will be...& the prices are thousands per yr. from reviews I read). After she hung up on me I did some digging & found a slew of neg. reviews. & one said that Great Expectations owns Real Christian Singles (their name in OH, I guess). & Christian Cafe promotes them, so beware. Go read the real reviews first. You'll steer clear once you do. So, after reading these reviews, I'm going to go delete my profile from CC, I believe, while I still can..while the 10 day free trial is still allowing me to use the site freely. & I agree, CC's prices, too, are way too high. & they argue w/ you rather that fix a problem w/ scam profiles. & I believe the reason they do (argue) is that they are creating the scam profiles & like others said, using them as a bait & switch to lure people in w/ the vast # of profiles..when many are inactive or scams..perhaps scams & fake profiles which they themselves have created. That was the strong impression that I got yrs. ago when I was a member & a guest.
I hope this helps someone?

I Agree with the above two reviews. I further like to state that if they were Christian they would be following Christ's COMMANDS: Christ clearly states that marriage after divorce is "ADULTERY" 99% of the singles on this sight are divorced!!! Mr 10:11 And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. Mt 5:32 But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. Mr 10:12 And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery. Lu 16:18 Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from [her] husband committeth adultery. 1Co 7:10 ¶ And unto the married I command, [yet] not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from [her] husband: 1Co 7:11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to [her] husband: and let not the husband put away [his] wife. My final comment is that if you do not do all that you can the membership at the end of your contract, they will automatically "bill" you again!

You left out a piece of the bible showing where God grants reasons for divorce (along with the verses that you have quoted) because man's heart is hardened. My ex-husband cheated on me numerous times and was abusive. Glad God loves me enough to give me a way out to protect myself and my children. I hate when people don't take in the whole context nor be able to discern where they are supposed to

I really felt the need to reply to your review to be fair my husband was emotionally abusive and I was abandoned in my marriage also I was reading lately that God hates divorce is just not true do you think God would want someone like me to put up with abuse do you think that I wanted out no so I have a hard time believing that that's the case especially if the case was abusive

This is true God hates Divorce but That works both ways If The wife commits adultery against her husband and many women now days are doing just that and in most cases having a lesbian affair leaving the man devastated after he has worked so hard to keep the marriage together and visa versa The world is looking more Like Sodom and gamora as we are living on the last days it is almost next to impossible to find a mate of the opposite sex to marry and cherish and love just as God Intended I agree with every word of the Bible but we are in the New testament and God never changes he is the same yesterday and today and forever he is Coming Soon and very Soon

Let me ask you this what if your husband abandons you leaves you and emotionally abuses you do you really think God hates divorce if your husband was cruel to you angry no I don't think so...sorry but God is an all loving God and he would not want one to stay in an
emotionally abusive marriage
