Be2.com's Crappy Membership Cancelling Process

Authored by: Anonymous (Anonymous User) on Monday, June 25 2012 @ 05:59 am
Don't touch this site with a barge pole!!!! Scammers extradonaire...i cancelled the subscription as per terms and conditions but was told that the letter hadn't arrived in time (they received it a week prior to the end of the 'free' trial) and that they would take 149gbp from my account...i cancelled my bank card so this wouldn't happen. When they couldn't get the money they sent me an email informing me that if i didn't pay they would pass it on to their solicitors. I have received an email from their solicitors saying they will take me to court if i don't pay the outstanding balance plus their costs. I responded by quoting the terms and conditions of the subscription...that i had sent written confirmation that i did not wish to renew the subscription and that i had adhered to their terms by deleting my profile etc...I have now received yet another email from the solicitors in response saying that Be2 have no record of my cancellation letter and that the burden of proof falls to me. If i don't pay (eur 236.08) in 8 days that they will file a lawsuit!! It's totally ridiculous...I sought legal advice and have been told that I have acted quite within my rights as a consumer. Has anybody else found themselves in this position and if so how did you get on?

How did you get this to stop? I have just been sent a threatening email demanding payment and I had cancelled way before the subscription was due. Should I just ignore it?

Hi there, I have just managed to cancel my membership on line via my profile...... I did spend a long time tag emailing. All emails were automated responses. All dead end emails..... until yesterday where I got a response from a real person, I think??? Anyhow in the email it stated that the actual 'subscription button' would be accessible as of today's date, so I went on and cancelled!! Hooray! My 10th email stated the clause from section 6 of ' hub pages.com' who ever wrote this did so in an awaresome way, great advise! Anyhow I've cancelled and out of pocket by only $70 bucks, I was afraid I would go down the route of many other frustrated customers. Good luck and go to Hub pages.

I am in exactly the same position. Sent letter after no joy with the online cancellation process, and they deny receiving it. Sent scanned copies of all contact and saying because I did not send registered, I am liable and said I could pay reduced amount and would sent me an invoice. Have not heard anything. Will wait and see what happens next. Has anyone been taken to court?

Hi All, I got caught by the lure in of a 1 month trial for 5euro, but then even though i sent an email, and scanned a handwritten letter. They said it had to be in 7 days before the trial date.I thought this was for a hand written sent to luxembourgh. Does any one have a number to ring them on. They just caught me for €180.00. My local bank is trying everything to get my money back, but it does not look good.

I have experienced the exact same from this "so called company". I am ignoring the emails. Let them take me to court! I would be completely willing to take the stand and tell my story.
I wish there was an international department that would shut these guys down. It is blatant fraud and extortion and they have been getting away with it for years.

Be2.com's Crappy Membership Cancelling Process

Authored by: Anonymous (Anonymous User) on Monday, April 08 2013 @ 12:36 am
I started this idiotic scam fight with this company jan 2012..after 15 months of fruitlessly telling them I cancelled well within my rights, within a few hours of signing up to the Premium Membership, as soon as I saw the scam they were trying to pull when I received their invoice..

Despite what they say, as others have said below, I signed on for what I thought was £5 for a month trial with an option for a further 6 months, as we all now know it's actually not an option but a mandatory period, so I cancelled as per their own condition 13, by email, within hours and well within the 7 day cooling period that THEY stipulate [never mind the 2 weeks we get as UK consumers]..no written or signed communication required under 13, they acknowledged receipt of my email with instructions as to how to cancel if you were a premium member, which as i never used any services to make contact, legally i was not...

so i thought this was the end of it, but then they brazenly took £150 off my CC following the so-called trial month, I complained to my CC fraud dept saying this was not authorized, they reversed the payment, BE2.co.uk didn't complain or object during the 45 day period that they could have, and i got the £150 back..then I receive an email etc saying account was due payment etc.

obviously this is a scam of the most blind, idiotic and typically european type..

I have now received my first UK solicitors letter, after 15 months, from a 'drydensfairfax' collections and solicitors in Bradford, Yorks, having been sent emails by a German collection company for the last 6 months or so 'Auch Witte Thiel'..having answered them in plain english, no one ever seems to talk any common sense, just this line about the account was never cancelled and the burden of proof is on me etc.,.which under UK law it isn't I believe, and I transacted this siging up on the UK site..so UK Law it is!! at least here our consumer rights are protected, and as someone already mentioned below, his/her legal advice already confirmed that we actually have 2 weeks to cancel ANY AGREEMENT..

i've told them many times if i take them to court, they will be massive losers as i believe i have acted perfectly honourably as far as it can go..these are the only online people who have ever acted in this way and i have used a few sites to see what was out there..

maybe we all need to join together and do a class action and sue these guys for millions, that might shut them up pretty fast, or advise the Watchdog programme maybe..i'll keep posting here to see whats happening with you all and what may happen to me, though frankly they can whistle in the wind as far as i'm concerned, it quacks like a scam, smells like a scam, and will be trod on like a scam..

this link below is excellent, and gives a clear line of action should anyone need or want to try it..frankly I think ignoring them is the answer right now unless anyone can say they have actually had to go to court etc..which i doubt.

I have had a similar experience and their solicitors keep sending me threatening emails. This is the email .....................
You have not reacted to our previous reminders and not made any payments. Although we
even granted you the option of not settling the claim until one month later or paying it off in
reasonable monthly instalments, you have not felt the need to repay your debt to our client.
You therefore force us to pass the file on to our Litigation Department. There they will prepare
legal proceedings against you, obtain the court instrument permitting enforcement and institute
the requisite compulsory execution measures to enforce our client's claim. This will incur further
court costs, solicitors' fees and bailiffs' disbursements. These will clearly increase the claims.
Our Litigation Department will inter alia enforce the garnishment of bank accounts, income from
employment, insurance policies, retirement pension expectancies, etc. We wish to expressly point
out that our client will not forego its claim and will do everything to collect the outstanding
debts. With the obtaining of the enforceable instrument and implementation of all necessary
compulsory execution measures our client has instructed us just as with a long-term monitoring
of an enforceable instrument. This guarantees that in the next 30 years, in a constantly recurring
rotation, execution measures can be taken against you insofar as necessary. To prevent us
passing your file on to the Litigation Department, we are giving you a last opportunity to
transfer the claim into our account quoting the reference number. You can only prevent your file being passed on to the
Litigation Department by paying by or by submitting a reasonable offer to pay by instalments. In your own interest we can only urge you to contact us immediately.

The trouble is, just to LOOK at the site you have to press a 'continue' button on page 1 and under that in tiny writing it says this acknowledges you've read and accept the terms and conditions. Clearly most deceptive. They claim you can cancel online, but few ppl I've read have worked out how to do this. They want you to FAX a signed letter!

I've been threatened with legal action by them too, this month, although I cancelled within 24 hours and changed my credit card no. Unfortunately they have my address .... Just waiting for the guy to call and break my legs .... shall keep mobile phone handy when answering the door.

There was an attempt to scam me from this site and I need to close bank accounts. I gave them notice of closure but they advised me it was not in time. They have now contacted me via email wanting payment for another month. They gave me an email address of cscollections@be2.com if I need to make contact. (which I did) only to find the email was not able to be delivered. I do not want to log back into the site nor do I have a credit card for payment. Do you know of any other contact methods.

I am in exactly the same place. Sent my form in, after no joy with the online cancellation process, and they deny receiving it. I even sent a scanned copy of the form which shows the date of printing on it - because I didn't send it registered , they say I am liable and are threatening me with debt collection - has anyone got any news on how they have proceeded??

I have had exactly the same treatment from Be2, I paid £5 for a months trial and decided not to join so i sent an email well within the cancellation time, telling them so but all igot was automated messages, saying that they would get back to me in three days and when they did they said i could not cancel by email (but the terms and conditions said i could) i had to write but if i did then it wouldn't reach them in time as it is in Luxembourg, my bank is monitoring them, so they can't take the payment so i have to make sure i don't have enough funds in my account, they are now threatening me with debt collectors, the Saga goes on, what rip off merchants!!! And all for the sake of looking for a man, think i'll stay single!

These swiss jerks should be in prison in Bern or Zurich - they are exploititive and the instructions they give to unsubscribe don't translate in real terms on their website - don't go their way - they will try to extort your money if you refuse to pay by saying that your credit rating will be lowered as they have collectors to pursue you - give them the heave and tell your friends - particularly your swiss friends!

Just to share cancellation instructions received from the site after numerous failed attempts to cancel. These instructions work to the point that I have sent a signed cancellation instruction by email and have received a receipt; whether my payment is actually cancelled remains to be seen. As a safeguard I have contacted my bank, who have raised a recurring card transaction cancellation form. Still not confident, but happier than when met with a brick wall.

My Profile > settings > Premium Membership view/Change > “here to continue” > “here for more information” > Premium Membership and Payment > Payment > How can I end Automatic renewal > End premium membership > Continue.

Save the form as a pdf and add a signature.

There are three ways to send your signed cancellation form to us:

as a fax to: +44 207 7859384

as a signed email attachment.
as a letter (suggest registering) to: be2 S.Ã .r.l. - 291, route d'Arlon - L-1150 Luxembourg

I should have come to this site earlier! I have paid the enormous amount demanded and cancel my credit card . DO NOT WISH TO GO BACK TO THEIR SITE TO DO ANYTHING ELSE! Have also ask the debt collector Auer Witte Thiel whatever to inform their client that I don’t wanna have any future doing with them but was given a lame response. I deleted the app after 3 days as it was UTTERLY USELESS! Then was sent the email for payment below . Damn it I should hv ignored it .
Hopefully my bank will help .
DEAR ALL PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS SITE IT WILL ONLY SUCK YOU DRY INSTEAD OF GIVING YOU HAPPINESS !!!!

We are writing to inform you that we legally represent the company be2 S.à.r.l., 13 rue du Commerce,
LU-1351 Luxembourg. Our client operates the well-known premium dating platform singles50.

You registered on the singles50 Website and booked a paid premium membership. You registered using
your e-mail address *****@live.com, which you counter-confirmed. When you registered,
your personal details such as the user name and the bank details you communicated
were likewise stored. The IP address of your PC you used to make the booking was also recorded and
stored for legal purposes.

Unfortunately you have not paid the membership fee due.

As, regrettably, you did not respond to be2 S.à.r.l.'s reminder, our client has had to instruct our law
firm to claim the receivable due, and if necessary collect it.

We must therefore ask you to transfer the outstanding receivable amounting to EUR 270,88, which
includes the fees and interest, in the next few days albeit by not later than

17.07.2018.

We request that you comply strictly with this term of payment to avoid any further inconvenience.

For Payment via PAY PAL click the button below:

PayPalzahlung

For Payment via CREDIT CARD click the button below:

Kreditkartenzahlung

Paymentlink Auer-Witte-Thiel

In case the link should not work due to a setting of your computer, please open the attachment Part_2.html

For Payment by bank transfer, here is a summary of the details you require for the transfer:

Account holder: Auer Witte Thiel
Bank: Postbank (Giro)
IBAN :DE76 7001 0080 0005 2018 07
BIC: PBNKDEFFXXX
Amount: EUR 270,88
Subject: 28618010332

Please note that if the time limit were to lapse to no avail we would be forced to instruct a law firm
on the spot to further process and pursue before the courts the claim against you, which would
entail inconvenience and further costs for you.

Insofar as the currently owed amount is transferred entirely and on time, we can confirm you that
the contract is ended and no further claims brought against you.

Yours sincerely,
