Who should pay on a first Date?

As a woman, I never expect a man to pay for me. I always offer my share. If he insists on paying, I won't argue (for that would be impolite). I then offer to leave the tip. As a general rule, in speaking with both guys and gals, men who don't pay are the ones who have no interest in seeing you again. And to be fair, if you have no interest in each other (be it one way or the other), why should the guy foot the bill? Oh, and I have also heard of the women who go on dates solely for the free food. To them I say SHAME ON YOU! (This happened to a friend of mine; the woman actually told him that! God bless him, he made her pay for her meal AND her own taxi.)

Well said. In this day and age of hundreds of first dates and speed dating etc., it's silly to expect males to pay for every first meal. Not to mention the women who like to take advantage of the "suckers" who feel the need to pick up all meals. I've had dates where I am asked after dinner to take them somewhere...a movie for instance and not once do they offer to pay. It baffles me. I pay for many meals...I just think it's ridiculous for anyone to expect it to be that way every time That's just rude on their part. I don't expect women to do all the dishes and iron my shirts and I don't expect that I should pay 100% of all meals. Get with the times people. Having said that, I find the majority of women offer to pay for some or all in most cases, which for me is usually all I expect. Just good manners and classy.

well, I'm 15 and for a first date (to the movies) should I pay? Or for all of it or just the food?
