I am a traditional orthodox Catholic male. I was APPALLED by the lack of moderation in the discussion forums. Most of the user base are NOT conservative orthodox Catholis but rather "rebounding" divorcees with children and usually in their mid to late 40's and very often not anything close to being physically in shape. If you join my advise is STAY AWAY from the discussion forums. They are patrolled by a covey of long term women (and a few sympathetic men) who use the site NOT for dating (since these can't get a date) but as a social site to keep tabs on each other. New "meat" is shaken out fast and if you sound conservative (7 out of 7 on Catholic questions) and give even a hint of being a strong male that wants nothing to do with feminist liberal women they will wolf-pack to pounce on you unmercifully. Do not be surprised at the blatant lack of charity as the "old gals club" will attempt to publicly gang attack to humiliate you and set you up to say something against the rules to they can then report you and get you banned. In fact there is no appeal process and if you do get banned one day your account is just "closed" without any comment (know of 3 men this happened to). It appears that there is some insider relationship with moderators who will create false profiles (impossibly attractive "too good to be true" women) who's first post is to you to get you in the forums is to talk to them in private and reveal personal information so they can figure out more about you. Something is NOT right at CM and I do not think any valid Catholic ecclesial oversight is in place and its just another private secular commercial site pretending to be Catholic and defining what they want as the social mores. If you join DO NOT participate in forums or you will be labeled in the first week as a liberal, or chauvinist, or conservative etc. DO not reject any "frumpish" women since these will bear a grudge and use their friends to probe you for true sentiments - just ignore their contact or say "you are not looking right now". There are very few single never-married with no children and "in shape" women under age 35 (child bearing age) on the site.

I read the prior comments about the site being overrun by too orthodox/ conservative but i can tell you that the ultra liberal pseudo-Catholics who can not even marry in the Church due to divorce with no anullment now haunt the place. So I am laughing since these gang up on those who appear as "too conservative" and no one is stopping it.

Also there are many "fake" or dormant accounts that never respond to contact and I think the sysops are planting these to give an illusion of greater database as well as using them to find members who are more interested in the younger women. They don't seem to like the idea of 40-50ish men contacting 28-35 yo women (fertile women) and want to run these off the site to open it up to their true client base - which is older re bounder divorced women. Its heartbreaking to see a site that is really needed with a moderately large Catholic user base be abused and mis-run like this site is. Also - if you don't read your email on the first forward notice subsequent notifications are never forwarded so you can miss contacts if you are ignoring users who you do not want to reply to unless you log on frequently to check mail and activity. They need a technology upgrade there.

The absolutely need an appeal process for complaints and active moderation of ALL forums since its has degraded so bad now that most just post childish and safe "non adult" questions like "what is your favorite song" or "what do you do with a man who talks to much on a date" (male bashing is ok). I saw some old women beat up a nice guy who started some serious debate and was trying valiantly to keep it civil and on topic but he just gave up as they personally started attacking him and left the site. So sad to watch a site with potential and which is needed be bullied by users and poorly administered. It's impossible to get a human on the phone and talk to them about problems - just a help desk ticket system with a very one sided and conclusive communication system "this is the way it is going to be about <insert your complaint here> - ticket closed thank you".

The saddest thing is that the other smaller Catholic sites have fewer user base but seem to be much more congenial. I have met more good Catholics on Match and Plenty of Fish (Free site) by being diligent in search criteria and by asking more specific questions when finding somone interesting that is responsive.

Also - ran into a few "Nigerian Bride Scam" profiles at CM who join to lure men with fake profiles to wire money etc. These get closed pretty fast when reported but on Internet Dating has a lot of problems and there are lots of "grass is always greener" types who use them for speed dating and upgrading their partners at the first instant they think they find someone better. What a mess in general...
