I agree. Perhaps I'm just being old-fashioned, but I think the guy should always pay, first date, second date, or even the ninety-ninth date.

i think guys should pay on early dates. it's one of the last vestiges of chilvary in this country. as a relationship progresses, then the girl can pay. plus, "making dinner at my place" counts as paying...groceries aren't exactly free.

The woman should pay for the first date. After all, the guy is going to pay through the nose from then on anyway. If the match results in marriage, he will pay, pay, pay. Then when she's ready to move on and files for the divorce that's when he will REALLY pay. American women want wallets, not lovers.

Truely old fashioned. When the man was the only one with an income. Now I can and do work, so I feel empowered to pay my own way. Treating is nice but it can and does work both ways.
