There is one way to avoid the auto renewal problem, and that is to avoid companies that charge a monthly fee in the first place. There are a number of free sites in addition to higher end sites that charge a one time up front fee. They tend to be somewhat expensive ( $99 - $3500 ) but the matches you'll get are way better. After a while on the sites that charge monthly, you'll end up spending more than you would have for an upfront service and will have wasted your time with sub par singles. Check out www.buildmyspouse.com when it launches next month. You can specify the physical traits you seek in a match, as specific as eye color. Looks interesting, launches Dec 15th I think.
